Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond. Tells the real stories behind the American Eviction business and those who depend on it to put a roof over their children’s heads. The stories are so enthralling that it reads like fiction but you will walk away with a deeper understanding of the eviction process and why the business of eviction has been booming since the nineties. Highly recommend 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟. #socialworkreads#socialwork#socialjustice#evicted#matthewdesmond#girlswhoread#bookstagram#booksofinstagram
Homelessness is a real thing amongst students in #California , even when your recieving financial aid at an #institution in higher education. Homeless rates amongst California college students is 11%, and over 19% at humboldt state university, and 7% at college of the redwoods.
It's nice to have a housing summit to get everyone on board in order to find appropriate solutions to homelessness in our area.
It's an honor to work with Dr. Marissa O'Niel and Dr. Pam Bowers on research supporting these issues and offering solutions with the support of #HSU President Dr. Lisa Rossbacher and College of the Redwoods Dr. Keith Snowflamer.
Thank you for empowering me to be the best person I can be, I hope one day to play an important roll in housing solutions and working with thoes in need.

Community engagement is the term we use to describe a wide range of activities which bring our students and researchers together with the local community. This is done through the community engaged research and social activities where the students can enhance their skills through real-life experiences, while applying their knowledge to benefit the community.

The Abundance Party has welcomed a few new members today. Here’s what’s awesome about that: take 4 of today’s orders (bc IG can’t fit the others)- each of these clinicians have made a goal to build their private practices. They’ve decided they’re all in. They then get the skills and knowledge they need for success from the Party site and support from the accompanying community.
The Party FB Group is phenomenal. Each person in there is an action taker who supports their fellow Party People with love, advice, and some gentle “calling folks on their blocks”. There’s no drama. No screaming “that’s unethical” at every out of the box idea someone has. (Have you noticed if it’s not completely conventional therapists throw that word at each other?!) It’s the way therapists and entrepreneurs behave towards one another in an ideal world. I’m so grateful for that crew everyday.
Since the Party is evergreen people can join whenever. I’d get more sign ups if I added scarcity and closed it every 6 months but it’s worth it to me to get a handful a day and allow people to come when they’re feeling like they need the guidance and are really ready. I think that’s part of why the community is so on it. They’re ready. This wasn’t an impulse buy.
If you’re ready to get more clients and stress less about your practice, join today’s sign ups: AbundanceParty.com (link in bio)
They say if you knew the reason children were chronically absent (or with abrupt behavioral issues), it would crush you. Before you dismiss a truant teenager as someone who doesn’t care about their future, invest into them. Invest into their story. I promise you they aren’t skipping school just because they hate it.

This journey has been so exciting and intimidating at the same time, but I am so grateful for God’s provision and grace in every single step of it. Although I am still in shock that this is actually happening, I am so excited for the opportunity to grow and develop as a social worker. More than anything I am so humbled by the opportunity to serve children in great need. I pray that as I continue this journey I may be light and a witness of God’s love and faithfulness through my work. Honestly, this work of line can be difficult but it’s worth every second. I am privileged to be serving orphans, widows and the poor day in and day out. •
Going to school will be different this time around, which makes me a little nervous. I have more responsibilities at home, duties at work and my husband is with me instead of being in a different city. Now with school, I will be adding a couple of things to my already busy schedule. Learning to juggle all my roles and responsibilities seems overwhelming to think of and in reality it will be hard to do on my own strength. But I have to hold tight to believing that if God is calling me to do this and opening the doors for it - HE WILL PROVIDE THE MEANS AND STRENGTH TO CARRY ME THROUGH. This upcoming (and honestly crazy) year will bring both challenges and great moments. In the middle of it all it will be crucial to be intentional in my walk with the Lord; clinging to His overwhelming grace and mercy every day and in everything. I hope that at the end of this journey I may have grown in love and dependence on Him. I pray that at the end I am more equipped to serve Him better and wholeheartedly. Trusting completely in His timing, calling and purpose in my life. Because— even when it seems intimidating and overwhelming in my own strength, He is always in control. •
As I walk through this stage I have been continuously overwhelmed by the way God has opened doors for me to pursue my masters degree.
I cannot hid the excitement of starting this new journey!! Thank Lord for your provision and love towards me!! Cheers to a new adventure! #newbeginnings#uconnmsw#graceupongrace#gradschool#ourlittlelife#coveredbygrace#socialwork
Hello world, please help me in giving back to the kids who are in Foster Care that I work with on a regular basis. When some get taken out of their homes, not only do they only have the shirt on their back, but some don’t even have shoes on their feet. We are trying to change that.
Please donate new shoes to be distributed to the 1000 kids just in Pinellas County alone.
I can take the shoes in for you, as the drop off location is my work place. If you’d like to drop them off yourself please have them in a bag with a paper attached stating “Brenna Kaczynski LSF”
I would really love if people all around the world were able to donate. I know all of my friends, no matter where they are, all have hearts of gold.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions
WE DIDN’T DO THIS ALONE. AND WE NEVER WANTED TO.
“We always want this social enterprise to be founded on unity, empowerment and togetherness.
Now looking back on dreams - there's always a common denominator. The dreamer can NEVER accomplish the dream on their own! It's impossible to fulfill on their own, because dreams are often bigger than just one person.
Our fashion label is bigger than any one person. We simply can't make this company work unless we actually work TOGETHER: with the youth who paint the jackets, with the shelter we facilitate the program at, with the non-profit SHINE program that we use to value our youth, with our team of mentors, with YOU!”

Congratulations to new #healthcare grantee Brianne! “About a month ago I had my first #dental appointment in three years. I did not have dental insurance before #AppleHealth and I was not able to get the care I needed. After that appointment I learned that I would need a root canal and crown because of a crack in one of my fillings that had been accumulating bacteria and causing an infection; however, my insurance would not cover it. I am very appreciative that I was able to become a WWIN grantee and receive the funding needed to fix my tooth. My husband and I are both college students and I only have one more semester left while he has two. We are so excited that we won’t have the burden of this debt on us in our last months of college so that we can save some money while we find new jobs. Thank you so so so much!!” Do you know a woman struggling to make ends meet who could use a little extra help on her journey to a healthy, happy life? Click the link in our bio to learn more.
“For the past 19 years, Peace Over Violence has run its Denim Day campaign on a Wednesday in April in honor of Sexual Violence Awareness Month. The campaign was originally triggered by a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Peace Over Violence developed the Denim Day campaign in response to this case and the activism surrounding it. Since then, wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. In this rape prevention education campaign we ask community members, elected officials, businesses and students to make a social statement with their fashion by wearing jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual assault. This year’s Denim Day is April 25, 2018.” @peaceovrviolnce #denimday#socialwork#socialjustice
Life used to look a lot different before coaching. I would roll out bed frustrated about having to go to work. Go to work and be frustrated I was there. Go home go to bed and be frustrated that I had to go back the next day. .
Now that I have found coaching I wake up and go to bed with a smile on my face.
Each day is a new Life used to look a lot different before coaching. I would roll out bed frustrated about having to go to work. Go to work and be frustrated I was there. Go home go to bed and be frustrated that I had to go back the next day. to help someone live their best life. Each day is a new opportunity to support and uplift women on the health journey. .
Coaching gives me the joy in life that I was missing. And for that I will always be grateful 💕
