It's playoff hockey time, wildflowers are blooming, babies are hatching in my yard, my best friend is coming to visit from California, my hair is purple, and I just got this cool new case for my cool new phone! #thingsthatmakemehappy#barredowl#shortearedowl
Where did they go?
Short-eared Owls often winter near our coasts where the weather is more moderate and the voles are in good supply, but where do they go in the spring? While some individuals stay and breed, most head to grasslands and sage-lands of the interior. These landscapes are also in high demand for farming, ranching and conversion for to other uses. As a result most of the owls of our interior are considered “species of concern”. Learn more about owls and our sage and agricultural lands in my latest book, “Owls: A Year in the Lives of North American Owls” or in my ongoing multimedia owl talks based upon the book.
Note: All of my images feature wild animals in their habitat. No images have been edited, and none of the subjects have been baited, or moved. Should there be an exception to these conditions they would be noted. @paulbannick #owlayear#paulbannick#shortearedowl#shortearedowls#owl#owls#birdsofinstagram#bird#birds#conservationphotography
