Starting it off, the album that kicked off my obsession: #ACDC - "Highway to Hell"! This album was and is massively important to me. I was just getting in to Rock 'N Roll from having flirtations with then current Pop music and Rap and my current and first favourite band was Halifax's #Sloan . There was a lot that I loved and still love about that band, but it was their harder driving material that really spoke to me. I was craving more and more of that stuff, and after seeing the CD for "Powerage" at a friend's house, I was intrigued. Something about the packaging spoke to me. It became my mission to find what exactly this band AC/DC was.
I managed to pick up "High Voltage" at #Samtherecordman in #Belleville and really enjoyed it. But it still wasn't quite what I was after. But it peaked my interest and the next thing I picked up was this absolute masterpiece.
This album sucked me in completely. It was the most raw, powerful thing my 12 year old ears had ever heard. Those five scruffy figures on the front cover beckoned me on a musical journey unlike anything my young mind could have comprehended, and by the time I finished that album I was absolutely hooked. There was no going back.
For the vinyl nerds out there, this is the original Canadian pressing on Atlantic. * * * * * * * *
So it's supposed to be your 10 FAVOURITE albums of all-time, but I am instead going to do it a little differently and do the 10 most impactful albums in my life. There will be favourites for sure (like this one!) but to me, music is sometimes as important as the stories you can attach to it and the memories you have of it.
