Here’s how I do tire changes on “regular” axles (vs. torsion axles). I know that axle manufacturers don’t recommend that you jack the camper up on the axle, but I figure the road itself is abusing the area where the u-bolts are so my short time of jacking it up isn’t going to hurt anything. Obviously, I take no responsibility for whatever happens if you heed this (it’s not even advice; it’s just how I do it).
I have an inexpensive 6-ton bottle jack from @harborfreight. It’s lightweight but heavy enough to lift a single axle. I couldn’t lift the whole side with it, but I don’t foresee that use.
I position the bottle jack between the U-bolts on the axle OR on the u-bolt themselves. What I really want is for my father-in-law to make me a 1/2-circle cradle that connects to the jack itself.
Before jacking up the axles, I use a breaker bar to loosen the lug nuts. Then I jack it up. Finally I use my wimpy @dewalttough impact drive to spin the lugs off. The it’s just a matter of wrestling that heavy tire. 😁

Last Ukulele class selfie 💔😢 I have gathered so much information and encouragement from my Uk teacher and I am really going to miss the classes, but it is really just becoming too much of a hastle financially and emotionally. I am, of course, going to continue practicing the things Sean has taught me regularly, and soon enough I will be the player I dream of being. His parting gift to me was the music to Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight" 😍❤ He couldn't have picked a better one. It's one of my all-time favorite songs.
Reminiscing on our travels. We spent a month on the road in our hatchback hybrid. We car camped, tent camped and couch surfed all around the county. We saw some of the most stunning landscapes and traveled amazing roads. I am so longing for that again. Can’t wait to live that life again.
After years of asking, due to the persistent random curiosity that I was born with 😜, I have noticed that everyone travels differently from the next person and there are no rights or wrongs 🤗(this is also how a lot of people find out who they remain friends with when their holiday is over 😂) for me, other than the trip itself, the fun part is the semi-planning and research! 🗺📌📆📝📔what are you like? Planned / unplanned? Good mix of both for me... #europe#organised#dkeyewitnesstravel#philipsroadatlas#roadatlas#europeroadtrip#travel#campercontact#rv#rvlife
The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind of the most inspired, encouraging meetings, followed up by some horribly sad news, stressful driving + unexpected RV hiccups, and wrapped up with our pup getting skunked in the face 🙈⠀
Needless to say, RV life keeps us on our toes... But what’s crazy is six months ago, this would’ve shaken us. And it did. ⠀
Six months ago, we were in this same hotel, dealing with a stressful and unexpected situation, and were just totally overwhelmed and anxious. ⠀
Six months later, and we’re full of joy and peace.⠀
Instead of dwelling on stress, we started our morning walking in nature, speaking out loud what we’re grateful for and praising God for all the ways He’s working in our lives. ⠀
Some of those ways are incredibly life-giving, like meeting up for coffee and inspired chats with @philconge, @alexcongelliere, @heinrichs80, and Nicole - and getting to cruise around on a lake chatting all about Jesus and business and life with @mingo2 🙌🏼 ⠀
And some of those ways are in the hiccups. In those heartbreaking phone calls. In the unexpected detours. In the moments that force us to just trust that the Lord is in control, and that His plan is greater. ⠀
RV life isn’t always crazy beautiful sunsets in the desert. It’s just our real life - being lived out in a few hundred square feet on wheels all across the country.
