10966 This rare Ming Dynasty Chi- Lin or horse like mythical animal roof- tile sculpture in "San Cai" Tri-color glaze is a beautiful one regardless that its nose has been damaged and repaired as most of the old roof-tile pieces would have been from coming off the roofs when the old buildings were torn or destroyed. One can still see its proportionally large head, a commonly seen feature of the figures from the Ming Dynasty and some other earlier periods, with a great presence showing a wide open mouth, short ears, and the stocky strong short legs. One can also see the beautiful texture of the aged glaze and clay. This beautiful auspicious beast is strapped with a seat and saddle with draped long fabrics showing that it belonged to a master.

When it comes to replacing the 60 year old roof, we first dreamed of a more modern look, but this was frowned upon by the town officials and we have to stick with the traditional curly orange tile. I find the real clay ones really pretty, especially like the #højslev#rooftile on the left #takpannor#tak#renovering
