Some amazing contrasts of colour at Anja Community Forest Reserve. Bone dry browns, rich soil reds, and wet grassy greens! This photo is taken from high up on a large rock within the reserve near Ambalavao. Just another amazing view of the stunning landscapes in Madagascar. Unfortunately, the forests of Madagascar have been cleared to make way for farming and a lot of the indigenous forest that the animals call home, have been obliterated. It's great to see the community try to save some areas, and this one in particular is home to a large population of ring tail lemurs. Join us in July for a trip to this amazing one-of-a-kind place. www.livingfreerange.co
Some photos of our walks through the rice paddies of Ubud. So relaxing especially early morning and evening. Even at night when the memorising fire flies come out. #bali#ubud#ricepaddies#indonesia#canon6d @cherie.goodwin
🌾🌾🌾 I watched the rice paddy farmer bend down and hand plant the new rice. In perfect rows. One by one he planted them, day after day. It calms me to watch him, it’s like a meditation. He looked up today and saw me playing with my daughter on our balcony at sunset. We’re always outside at sunset, drinking in the magic hour. He smiled his infectious smile, with only one front tooth. A cigarette lodged firmly in the spot where the other should be. He waved his dirty, calloused working hands up at us. Puffing away without having to touch his cigarette, the gap held it firmly in place. I waved back and smiled at him. We stared at each other for a few moments. Two separate beings, worlds apart. Yet here we were sharing the same sunset with that same feeling. New rice = new life. Humble. Simple. Pure life 🌾🌾🌾 How Lucky we are to be alive.
#梯田 Mr Luo is one of the few rice farmers still in the region. Most others have converted their terraces to tea given rising prices. Mr Luo can’t wait 6 years for new tea trees to begin producing a marketable crop. So he stays in the rice business, harvesting 1500kg of it every year, 400kg of which feeds his family for the year. The rest he sells for roughly $2000 USD - about double what it costs for that iPhone you’re using. #thetruthaboutterraces
We’re staying in the business too. Repost our photo or tag a friend below so they can follow
