The US spends $610B on military, nearly 3x that of China and 6x that of Russia! Reallocating a percentage of the military budget doesn’t mean you don’t support the military or believe in National Security — It means that you realize it could stimulate economic growth more so if invested elsewhere : ie: Science & Exploration, educational funding so teachers don’t have to spend any money out of pocket for supplies, fixing infrastructure, homelessness, etc. Military members that I’ve been speaking with are sick and tired of politicians using them as political tools to pander to war mongers and coerce voters to feel they must follow suit or be labeled “unpatriotic”. #Politics#Research#Budget#Resources#Economy#Growth#War#Military#Think#Listen#Learn#Grow#Change#Balance

Being a part of the LLS Woman of the Year campaign gave me the opportunity to tour a research facility where I actually got to see life saving treatments being found right in front of my eyes.
LLS research helps both blood and breast cancer patients!
May is National Cancer Research Month, an important milestone that recognizes the impact of cancer research on saving lives.
More than 65 years of fighting blood cancers has led LLS to a game changing belief. The cures for cancer are in our blood.
For renowned cancer researchers like Dr. Selina Chen-Kiang of Weill Cornell Medicine, LLS funding has been instrumental in advancing cutting-edge work. In fact, thanks to LLS funding over the past 17 years, Dr. Chen-Kiang has discovered a life-changing treatment that is helping both blood and breast cancer patients.
Dr. Chen-Kiang focuses on the blood cancers myeloma and lymphoma, but while she was studying the cell cycle in the blood, she learned that a targeted therapy called palbociclib effectively blocks cancer cells from proliferating. Her groundbreaking discovery helped lead the way for the therapy to receive FDA approval in 2015 for breast cancer. With LLS support, she is now testing palbociclib’s effectiveness in treating patients with mantle cell lymphoma.

This remade "Sex and the city" poster was one of the first things I've created for my thesis. The topic was quite unusual - Mothers vs. Public Interiors: To Change, to Feed, to Survive Being a Mother in Ukraine. It came more or less from nowhere, from jokes about me struggling with streets of Milan and heels, and heels-friendly environment as a topic for my thesis. But these jokes made me think about gender in architecture in general, so I decided to study it from the point of view of the most feminine state of woman - state of being a mother. Only a few months later I realized how important is this topic today, I interviewed more than 100 people and talked with women all over the world about them fighting to live a normal life after a baby is born. But it's already an another story =)
Our 100th post was always gonna be an epic giveaway, what else?

This week's #Iamamedicinalchemist is Mohamed Mahgoub from South Valley University, Egypt. Read below why he danced in the lab!
What is the most embarrassing thing you did in the lab while doing
experiments, e.g. explosions?
So far, no explosion..!!! But there are some funny things happened during working in
the lab. During the master I was trying to use new natural catalyst in my work. I tried
several catalysts but did not work..!! Finally, I used Quartz as a catalyst and after 2h I
found precipitate in the flask during heating….I was very happy and started dancing.
My supervisor saw me and he started laughing ……It was funny day. Noteworthy, I
finished my master by using this catalyst.

If you would not make your kid a sandwich in a public bathroom, why would you expect a woman to breastfeed or bottle milk of her baby in one? Swipe right and you will see examples of baby care rooms in Kyiv, Ukraine. It doesn't make sense to write names of those shopping centers and malls where these pictures were taken, bеcause the situation is more or less the same everywhere. Baby care rooms are combined with a toilet, or rather changing tables are just placed in bathrooms for women or disabled people. There are many reasons why this solution cannot take place nowadays, mostly hygienic, but the main point is: we do not eat in bathrooms, so why babies should do so? And if these rooms are just to change diapers, where is a place to breastfeed?
P.S.: did you notice that the door sign shows us that only women are supposed to take care of babies?
