I have always been a huge fan of Bobby Jackson's work and this was no exception and despite being from the Bones line, this model had great details in it. When I first saw this mini I knew I wanted to attempt Object Source Lighting on it which I am terrified of. My first attempt went disastrous but I've learn that not all brands of paints are suitable for glazing. So I actually did strip this mini and this was my second attempt at it. May not be the best OSL, but I'm really proud of it. OSL, I'm no longer scare of you 😝 #miniature#miniaturepainting#hobbygalore#minisof2018#reaperminiatures
Green stuffed last night. I am going to magnetize the wings because I will want to be able to remove and reattach while I am painting. Will probably be nice if I ever have transport this thing too. #reaperminiatures#greenstuff#modelprep#tiamat
A Struggle All Too Real (A Frostgrave Tale)
Her arms were weary.
Her mind was certain that the skirmish could not have been for more than a few minutes yet her body felt that she has been at it for hours.
She looked around and allowed herself a moment to take in the carnage around her. There were literally a number of dismembered and furry bodies everywhere! “Damn those gnolls,” Deenah whispered under her breath as smoke billowed out of her swollen mouth.
These damned gnolls were both fierce and tenacious.
She could still recall the panic in Hagrid’s face when they were ambushed. “By the way, where is Captain Hagrid?” She thought.
The female barbarian once again surveyed the snow-covered and blood-soaked plateau and quickly recognised a winged steel helm that once belonged to their “fearless” leader among the debris. There appears to be a severed head that was still encased in it.
Deenah tried to recall the events leading to the ambush. Just as they were entering the ruins of the cursed city of Felstad, the gnolls came out of nowhere and quickly made short work of their numbers.
The first to fall was Angrid with an arrow to the neck. Next to fall was Gwenelin who was speared through the heart. Then it was a blur.
These abominations would have been successful in slaughtering their group had it not been for Aina who magically summoned a snowstorm with her enchanted sword and scared those children of chaos away but she knew that their reprieve would not last long.
The snowstorm has stopped and already, she could hear the yips and barks of the gnoll pack from within the ruins as they regrouped and prepared to launch another attack.
Aina called out to her. “Deenah, to me!” Deenah ran over to Aina’s side and hefted her sword as she assumed a battle stance.
Damn! Her arms felt heavy... #frostgrave#frostgravestories#reaper#reaperminiatures#paintingfantasyminiatures
Here’s the other proxy I was working on for #massivedarkness ... who should stand in for the Troll Abomination. I was experimenting with this mini as well and tried speed painting it with a limited palette of color. Only used 5 colors I think which are mixed together to create the different shades of brown, green and red. Again, not going to win any prizes, but he does fit the « dirty-old-undead-troll » role pretty well :)
