Alex was hit with an extra dose of 'boyness' .... He is such a Daddys boy. He is all rough & tumble, all go all the time. He loves the dirt, grass & running wildly in the outside world with his grazed knees & drenched socks.

However,
when the sun goes in, he calms, he rubs his eyes & gives me that bedtime cuddle before I place him into his cot. He may love to be rough & tumble but hes a sucker for night time cuddles off mammy.

A successful night out celebrating Mark's birthday but I have a feeling his head is going to be very sore, when he finally wakes up.

Becoming a parent has definitely made us a lot less wild, but we still enjoy a raucous night every now and again, and last night was one of those, more so for Mark than for me.

When I was a missionary in Haiti, I prayed A LOT. Including at least one rosary a day, if not more. I knew each individual prayer in two languages, and they seemed as rhythmic and natural to me as my own heartbeat. At night, I laid on the roof passing bead after bead through my fingers, even as voo doo chants and drumming echoed in the distance. The peace I felt in these moments of prayer was unprecendeted, as if Mother Mary herself was shielding me with her mantle.

When I returned back to the US, my prayer life became difficult, and the rosary started to feel like more of a chore. I struggled to even get through a decade some days. There was work and traveling and wedding planning and then kids and on and on... you get the idea. I'm embarassed to admit that my daily rosary became a weekly, or sometimes only monthly, exercise.
.
Flash forward to a few weeks ago. In the weeks after Easter Sunday, I was blessed with the opportunity to review a digital copy of Ponder, the newest book from @takeupandread - a scriptural study of the mysteries of the rosary. Then @thelittlecatholic_ gifted me these beautiful handmade rosaries. Only a month earlier, my husband created a simple and beautiful Marian prayer corner for my birthday (swipe 👉 to see it).

I am getting the hang of taking care of the two rascals by myself: We hit the local amusement park this morning (see stories) - it is close by and we have an annual subscription which is dead cheap considering all the fun we are having there all year. We had a nap in the “big bed” with three of us and visited friends in the afternoon - the boys enjoyed a bit of waterfun! Then we met daddy for dinner at an Italian. Now after all this excitement we will all fall into bed! Enjoy your evening my lovelies!
