Let me share with you guys about Cesare Mammarella who is a restaurateur & business man. He probably never even slowed down to think about it but my former downtown Macon, Georgia neighbor is one of the realest forms of inspiration in my life. He gave me my first real opportunity in business. You talk about giving back but Cesare believes in giving other people a leg up. When I was 22 y/o full of gas & ideas, he hired me to oversee promotions for his new million dollar night club in Downtown Macon. It was featured in magazines across the country as one of the best night club projects ever. Most people saw it as a promoter, I didn't have to rent a venue, he pretty much handed over his state of the art venue to me. He delegated responsibilty over booking all the hottest DJs, bands, performers, flame throwers, security details, promoters and pay roll. I had to make sure we never had to go the bank to cover any night that we opened & for the most part it was successful. We covered the $1600 average staff payroll expense with thousands of dollars profit weekly.
Cesare had me out front. Some folks really thought it was my night club lol. He shared the success capital with me, socially, politically, financially in ways that promoters can only dream about. It wasn't just all parties because Cesare expected vision, excellence, accountability & professionalism. Ill never forget one night we'd thrown an awesome event, made a lot of money. I was happy but had gotten pretty much wasted. He calmly said "get it together, you're a mess, you have customers watching"
I felt busy just handling the night club but he did this while running 4 or 5 other restaurants simultaneously in Macon at the same time. So this is my official long over due thank you Cesare. Thanks for introducing me to business, believing in me, giving me that chance to shadow you so closely. Im pretty sure you gave me a confidence that changed my life & a thirst that'll make sure I'll never go hungry.
Most business owners I've seen are like birds sitting on their one nest of eggs. This genius showed me that you can have more than one thing going at a time if you're willing to share some ....
We have to rebuild our communities. We have to build a common goal, understanding, accountability and trust from community members to local businesses in order to progress. We can do that through community education. #EachOneTeachOne#ReachBack#Education#FreeTruth
