Competed in my first bodybuilding competition today, the men’s physique u179cm category at the ribbf spring classic today. Unfortunately, I did not make the top 6 but very much enjoyed the experience and know what I need to work on in the next off season. Effectively, I was out muscled and there’s very little that can be done about that in the short term. Anyhow, looking forward to continuing the competition experience journey over the next 3 weeks💪🏾

There is no answer to that. They are both right. And they will both feel it just as much as each other if executed properly..

Something that you won't see in this picture that has a huge affect on each individual is something I've spoken about before, that you, and Personal Trainers in particular, need to make note of when working with clients. 
Limb and bone length. This will play a huge role in the position the joints fall when forced into certain positions..

Have a look at the 2 pictures closely. The things you can see in the picture if you look, are the difference in head height and head position, hip height, and the angle of the shoulder to the hand. The bar hasn't changed position in either picture, but their bodies have..

6 Tips for Improving your Overhead Press

When it comes to getting stronger and bigger in the gym, compound lifts should be your focus as they incorporate multiple muscle groups and joints to get your body working synergistically and maximise your strength output.

Here are 6 tips to simplify the overhead press:
Tip1: Keep your glutes tight -
If your glutes are weak, it puts you at a greater risk for injury as your lower back moves into a bowed position. .
Tip 2: Let your head move slightly forward - 
Allowing your head to move forward slightly when you lift the bar will shift you back to your centre of balance, making the entire movement pattern feel more comfortable.

Tip 3: Contract your core - 
Engaging your core muscles creates a strong, powerful base as you lift the weight. Contracting your core makes it easier to transfer the force you’re developing with this exercise into your shoulders.

Tip 4: Think “Elbows down” - 
Excessive elbow flare places far more strain on the shoulder joint, leading to pain and possible injury. Tucking your elbows down and in will keep your shoulder girdle in proper alignment, keeping it in its strongest position. .
Tip 5: Don’t bend your wrists - 
Even slightly bent wrists can reduce how much force you’re able to generate.

MONDAY MOTIVATION

This session on Friday meant so much to me as it was with my son @duane413jay who is on a similar mission to me. 
@rjpfitness worked us hard and again introduced new exercises to our session. 
A good PT is worth his weight in GOLD and I have found an excellent PT in Ricky. 
I have been a bit complacent if I am honest with my diet and had put on a few lbs at my last weigh in so was important to get back on track this week.

The 7 Biggest Lateral-Raise Mistakes

What can go wrong doing lateral raises for your middle delts? Plenty.

Blunder 1: Changing Your Elbow Bend During The Movement
To do a lateral raise correctly, you create a slight bend in your elbows, then maintain that degree throughout the set. If you start opening and closing at the elbows, you're bringing the triceps into the equation. .

Blunder 2: Lowering The Weight Too Far
The best way to build these muscles is to maintain tension on the middle delt throughout each rep. If you bring your hand all the way down so that it's hanging by your side or in front of your thigh, you're not putting any tension on your delt at all. Your best bet is to stop the movement with your hand several inches from your side. .

Blunder 3: Dropping Your Elbows
A common mistake among beginners is to wave the weights up and down without raising their elbows out to their sides. In that sense, the upper arms don't go through much of a range of motion, which can kill your middle-delt gains. That's why you always want to "lead with your elbows". .

Blunder 4: Stopping The Motion At Shoulder Height
People usually do lateral raises to about shoulder height, even though the middle delt's range of motion extends further overhead. By continuing up to about 45 degrees above parallel, you can get a bit more contraction out of your middle delts. .

Blunder 5: Locking Your Arms So They're Completely Extended
Occasionally, you'll see someone doing lateral raises with their arms locked out to full extension. This puts a lot of pressure on the elbow joints. .

Blunder 6: Locking An L-Bend In Your Elbows
It is a common fallacy that you can lift more weight in a lateral raise if you put a big bend in your elbows instead of a slight bend. If you think that extra weight means you're getting stronger, just try straightening your arms a bit more. Can you still do your reps with that weight? Probably not. .

Blunder 7: Don't Ever Call Them "Medial" Delts
There is no such thing. The correct word is "middle" delts. If you want to know the correct name—and want to sound like you know what you're talking about—stick to real names.

Not every exercise is going to suit  your body it's just the way your built  if you do a certain exercise for EG. Your back but you can't feel you back doing any work maybe your set up is wrong, maybe you haven't mastered that mind muscle connection, maybe the exercise doesn't suit you...

Take home message if you can't feel the intended muscle being worked don't load it(lift heavy and weight with shit form you cud get bad injury), change your positioning still can't feel it try a different exercise or ask someone for help....

Over the last 3 weeks I’ve introduced low intensity steady state cardio to my training. I’ve been trying to get 30-45 mins in at least 3 times a week, either before or after my usual weight training routine. I checked my weight for the first time today since, and while that number will fluctuate from day to day, it’s encouraging to see a 7kg drop since my last weigh in about 4 weeks ago.

The goal is to get somewhere around the 88-90kg mark before heading to Mexico in July, so still a ways to go, but it’s progress 😊😊😊
