PSYCHE MAE - PHILIPPINES | Psyche Mae is now a young social worker, achieving her dream of helping others struggling to leave poverty behind them – with plans to study a Master’s degree. When Psyche Mae featured in Project Compassion 2008, she was living in a squatter settlement, on the edge of a giant rubbish dump outside Manila, in the Philippines. Participating in a Caritas Australia supported urban renewal program, Psyche Mae’s family have been able to lift themselves out of poverty. Ten years later, Psyche Mae continues to give back to her community. “A Just Future starts with Opportunity.” With your support, Caritas can continue to provide the opportunities for disadvantaged communities that first world communities take for granted.

Silver coin line for project compassion! Our class made a very wonky 9.5 metre line of silver (and a few gold) coins to give to those who need it most. The winning class was a whopping 26 metres long!!!
Congratulations to Penola house for winning today’s coin line up at recess!
All the coins donated by students were lined up in a long line by each house - the longest line won... With 25 meters of coins Penola took first place - well done ladies 🎉👍
Huge thanks to all students who donated - it is an outstanding effort. The donated funds will go to Caritas for Project Compassion.
When we focus on what we can do, not what we can’t do we are able to realise that every little bit helps. This line up goes to show what we can achieve together…
Today we donate $2 for every donut we sell to @caritasaust #projectcompassion to offer hope to people most vulnerable to extreme poverty and injustice so they can create better lives for themselves. .
You can also donate in our collection boxes in our cafe, or donate via (clickable link on our FB post): https://fundraise.caritas.org.au/fundraisers/rejoicethomson
Thank for your support 💕
“Without the support of the people from Australia and Caritas I would not have been given this opportunity to continue my schooling.” - Ditosa #ProjectCompassion#Mozambique#youth

DITOSA - MOZAMBIQUE | Ditosa lives in Mozambique. She was first featured in Project Compassion 2013 when she was just 12 years old and had lost both her parents to AIDS-related illnesses. Caritas Australia helped Ditosa, her aunt and her grandmother build a new home and assisted with transport, school materials and fees, to help Ditosa to stay at school. Ditosa has now graduated from school and hopes to go to university to become a police officer. She loved school and is ambitious for the future. “A Just Future starts with Education.” With your support, Caritas can provide opportunities for education in some of the harshest regions of the world.

What a day! ☀️ Thank you to all the year 5s that joined us yesterday for our Caritas Fun Run! Together we helped create a Just Future for children everywhere. And a special thanks to all the teachers, parents and volunteers that helped make the day happen! #caritas#funrun#projectcompassion#youthministry#lent#yearofyouth
EVANGELINE - AUSTRALIA | Evangeline was first featured in Project Compassion 2016, and has risen to the role of Senior Artsworker. Evangeline’s small remote community in the Northern Territory face a range of challenges stemming from the violent experience of colonisation, including few jobs, crowded housing and lack of access to services. The non-profit Aboriginal organisation, Djilpin Arts is supported by Caritas Australia and is a key employer in this community. At the Centre, young people come together with Elders to learn about their culture through art, storytelling, dance and song. Evangeline and the team of Artsworkers are doing really important work promoting their cultural knowledge and providing excellence in Indigenous tourism. “A Just Future starts with Culture.” With your support, Caritas can help to preserve the culture of disadvantaged communities

BAYAN - JORDAN | Bayan is 12 years old living with her family in Jordan. She grew up in Syria’s capital, Damascus before the conflict in Syria forced her family to flee. As a quiet, young refugee, she struggled to overcome the trauma she experienced and faced the prospect of missing out on an education. Fortunately Bayan has been able to attend a Caritas supported Education Program in Jordan. Here she receives support and tutoring. Now, Bayan is an academic high-achiever and is flourishing in the stable environment school life brings. “A Just Future starts with a Safe Place to Learn.” With your support, Caritas can protect the future of disadvantaged people through education and training.
