(Video link in stories section) I have a strong inclination towards everything that is culturally Indian. As many of you know I have a special love for Bharatanatyam. I have been wanting to create something unique for a Bharatnatyam dancer because I always felt these Bharatnatyam dancers through their body language and meticulous movements, carry the soul of this 2000-year-old traditional dance. The dancer is generally super flexible, has the best body language you can ask for. I have shot Bharatanatyam events, but there is very little control you have when the dancer is on the stage. As a photographer, I wanted to make pictures of the dancer but with a different perspective. I had this image in mind where the dancer is in her free-flowing meticulous expression and I wanted to freeze the movement like a painting. Also, I wanted to add a touch of modernity to it. It all started with this idea, and everything else fell into place. With state of art lights from Profoto (A1, B1X, D2), it just got better as we were able to bring out the details and the mood.
Big to the entire team who made this possible – Innovative costume design by @swathi_purushothaman from @studio149 , flawless @makeupibrahim , Hair by Ragavan, the brilliant dancer @kavyamuralidaran_dance . And a big shout out to the entire team at Studio A by Amar Ramesh who helped this dream come true (special mention to @dhivya__s , @israeldavidsons for the mesmerizing editing and the stunning poster). Last but not the least the people at @srishtidigilife for their tremendous trust and support. Truly matters, @vjsdpl . Looking forward to working with more creative ideas like this.

My policy is to almost never share images soon after capturing them anymore as I like to revisit them until I’m happy with color tweaks. However this image felt so right out of the camera. A few slight colour adjustments and here is Melissa and Gareth from Saturday’s wedding. A testament to how chill and cool they were in trusting me to do something weird and ask a nice stranger to pose with his clubs. It was one of the funnest weddings I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. Thankyou for having me along. Shot on @hasselblad H6100 with @profotoglobal #profotob1x and Large white diffused umbrella to match the setting suns consistency. #profoto#CreatetoInspire
A wedding day is exciting because it holds so much potential, and a couple is on their toes to jump into their future. When they stay on their toes and are still diving right in almost a year later, you know there's something going right.
For Photographers: Our favorite modifier is and probably always will be the #5 ’octa, but yesterday with the wind blowing, we tested the new Profoto #ocfbeautydish . For it’s small stature and totally portable nature, we were super impressed with the quality of light that it offered. We used it on our new #ProfotoB1x and didn’t feel it was a compromised in the least. I really look forward to testing it further when the weather or space doesn't permit our 5’ portable window :)
