Side note: this is so far from Memorial Day grub, but we have had rain for a week, with more rain for the next week. Weather like this has me craving some comfort in my belly 😋😋
Chicken Pot Pie
Então, seguimos aqui a temporada de comida quentinha! Pot Pie, que pode ser “traduzido” como uma caçarola de algum cozido, coberto com massa, que vai ao forno para dourar. O cozido pode ser o que você quiser, desde que fique cremoso (pouquíssimo caldo). A massa pode ser folhada (comprada pronta) ou alguma massa amanteigada de torta. E a caçarola (panelinha, frigideirinha) deve poder ir ao forno. Eu preparei um cozido com frango desfiado, milho, tomate, azeitona, couve-flor, brócolis. Fui colocando caldo de frango caseiro bem aos poucos até os legumes ficarem al dente. Cobri com massa de torta pincelada com ovo. Vegetarian chik’n pot pie. This is a sure to impress, easy and delicious dish. You make your basic pie crust. Make a seasoned gravy type filling with butter, flour and half n half. I season with salt, pepper, herbs and garlic powder. Then add sautéed veggies to the “gravy” . Pour filling into an oven safe dish. Place pie crust on top, brush with an egg wash and once the crust is brown, take out and enjoy. I baked this at 375 with about a 5 minute broil at the end. Veggies used were parsnips, carrots, onion, leeks, and celery. Wanna know the secret to our favorite pot pie recipe? Swap out the onions for leeks! While leeks and onions are in the same family, leeks are kind of like the sweeter, more mild cousin. When sautéed, they add a really nice balance to the bitterness of the celery!
Okay so new item at #flosv8cafe in DCA! This is Fillmore’s Pot Pie. It has corn, potatoes, green chilis in a creamy cheddar cheese sauce and the crust was flaky and yummy. Served with fruit on the side. I really liked this one! Great meat alternative. BTW mobile ordering is available here so give it a try to bypass the lines. 👍🏼😋🐽❤️
