Here’s a golden hour portrait of Scotch that I shot about a year ago, during a trip to the beach in Malibu to play. This was his first time at the beach since surgery and was shot after he was done as we walked back to the car. Prior to moving to Venice, this was the beach we went to since I could park right off the pacific coast highway and it was relatively empty which was better for him. Swimming the first 12 years of his life kept him young and happy for a long time but this was actually the beach I took him to a few days into 2016 a week after we arrived in Los Angeles and that was his first time seeing the ocean. This shot came nearly a year ago after his throat surgery and after he went deaf so at this point he was no longer allowed to swim but still enjoyed going there to run around and chase birds and get out of Hollywood for a bit. We usually came out here on Sundays and during the week if traffic wasn’t bad. It’s hard to believe he passed away 4 months ago tomorrow and i miss and think about him all the time.

working with seniors is so fun; it is almost nostalgic! marcus moved to san antonio for his senior year of high school and is a rockstar in both track and football. he’s going to university next year for engineering and will absolutely crush it. best of luck my man!
