Turns out, trying to photograph the Milky Way with a puppy in hand is next to impossible. None of those photos turned out, but I did get to see an amazing sunrise and take glamour shots of Jax!
When seeing life through the eyes of a five year old, you realize that crosswalks aren’t just crosswalks but islands to jump to and from, and skipping is a much preferred mode of travel. I love the simplicity and joy of life that my daughter reminds me of everyday.

Happy Monday! Here's a little waterfall beauty to start the week off! We got up bright & early yesterday & did a small hike at Snoquera Falls which was so gorgeous!! Unfortunately Instagram cropping cut out the full effect of this tall waterfall & I didn't want to white border the cover photo so swipe left for the full effect! I loved the rugged rocks here & how unique this waterfall looks. This is a great time of year for the hike as the falls are really flowing from the snow melt. In the summer it almost looks dried out. Highly recommend this one if you're looking for a hike nearby Tacoma (just a little over an hour) that's virtually clear of snow right now except right under the falls. Scrambling up the slippery rocks to the falls was my favorite part lol it's the monkey in me.
I hear it's normally not crowded on this hike as well. Since we went really early we hardly saw a soul & had the falls to ourselves for awhile but as we got back down to the lot around 10:30 am there were quite a few cars and people about to start the hike but I attribute that to the sunny day we had & slim pickings of good pay-off snow-free hikes right now. This hike will be going on a blog post I'm working on of great lowland winter/spring hikes in the area. Will be up before we leave for Greece! Have a wonderful Monday!

It's a beautiful sunny (but freezing) day in Washington and I'm dreaming about warm pnw #summer days hiking to beautiful places with epic views. I wish I was able to fit in a small winter lowland hike today but there's so much to do around the house still & I couldn't find anyone who was available to go with me :( So I'll just be spending my holiday off taking care of house work, Greece research, narrowing down wedding colors, & eventually hittin' the gym. Maybe even work on another Big Island blog post about a few waterfalls I've visited & loved. Still have a couple pictures to share of Peepee Falls but I've been holding off in case I make the blog post! Anyways, if you have today off (I know everyone doesn't...Joe is working!) I hope you're having a fabulous 3-day weekend!

Standing on some of these rocks really freaked me out as I don't have the best balance lol. There were some on the edge that would've made for epic photos but I enjoy my life more than I do a good selfie lol. It's Monday! Are you going to conquer today or let it conquer you? Start your week off on a high note...as high as the top of this summit! I dropped my sister off at the airport this morning before work & I'm going to miss her so much, but it's not goodbye it's I'll see you soon. Not letting her departure or the busy work week get me down lol and I'm ready to get shit done this week before my parents & little brother arrive this weekend for a whole week! Have a great day everyone!

Had an epic day hiking Mt. McCausland w/my sista & Joe today! She came for the weekend from Texas & we had to show her the beauty of the PNW. This wasn't even at the top of the summit & the view of Lake Valhalla was still so gorgeous! We did end up getting to the summit after this & it was hard but so worth it! The last half mile is super steep all the way up to the top, dusty, slippery, & brutal on the quads...but the view was so stunning from up top of the mountains, evergreens, & tiny Dow Lake on the other side. We had the summit to ourselves & enjoyed lunch up there for awhile. There is a box bolted down on the rock up top w/notes from hikers & letters to loved ones who have passed.
The only downside is the wildfire smoke from the Canada fires obstructed the view quite a bit. You could normally see so much from up above on a clear sunny day like today but the haze blocked the view's potential. Still was gorgeous though! By the time we descended the mountain I was a bit too tired to go check out the sandy shores of Lake Valhalla & a decent sized group of people were down there already as most people come to the lake vs the summit because it's an easier hike. So we skipped it this time around but we'll come back early again & take the easier Lake Valhalla trail instead to spend a couple hours down there!
All in all it was such a fun day in nature & we got so many great photos on the gopro & our phones! Be prepared for some hiking spam on this place the next few weeks because aside from the summit views and the lakes, there was a ton to explore on this trail. We got to explore a mini cave & rock area on the way up. It was so much fun & highly recommend this hike! 7 mile roundtrip by Stevens Pass! No pass needed. First 3 miles are easy enough, last steep half mile to the summit is definitely tough.
