Is there something in the air today??? #springfever ??? 🤷🏻♀️ This morning and after school, the kids were so GRUMPY, and just kept blowing up at each other over the tiniest things. So when Dave got home we made a quick decision to blow off our meal plan for the night and go to our favorite pizza place - we had a ton of Woody Rewards Bucks saved up, they have my favorite beer on tap, and pitchers are half off from 4-6 everyday 🍻🍕🥗 Score!! We ate, we played, we had fun, we came home and got everyone in bed with a full belly and in a much better mood. .
What do you do to turn a bad day around??
Last night I spent two hours painstakingly bubble wrapping my entire kitchen. I didn’t know something so monotonous could make me so tired. Or so cranky. But afterwards we walked to the little pizza place down the street. We sat on the patio under twinkle lights, split a bottle of red wine, and enjoyed this bruschetta + a pizza (moving is not the time to eat healthy🍕). It. Was. Magical. I’m so happy I followed through with this “apartment bucket list” item because even though everything in my body screamed “I just want to lay on the couch and piece together a meal of whatever is left in the fridge and wallow in how overwhelmed I feel”, what I really needed was some fresh air, a little exercise + the prompt ingesting of carbs, and some quality time with Luke to give me a new perspective.
If you’re in need of a fresh outlook, might I suggest a change of scenery? It’s so easy to become overwhelmed by circumstances and unable to see past the fog of our surroundings when we’re stagnant. The longer we allow ourselves to stay consumed by the enormity of our current situation, the harder it is to get out. If this is the reminder you need, then take it from me, and get outside. Move your body. Maybe eat some pizza if you’re into that. And confide in someone you trust. Because more often than not, simply changing your surroundings can change your attitude. 📸: KA

BACK FROM THE FUTURE
So we got to Sydney airport. And we went through check in and security like a knife through butter, both kids angelic, congratulating ourselves on how slick we'd become at travelling. And then, joy of joys, we get on the plane and River turns out to have gastroenteritis. And then spends the full 11 hours of flight time throwing up on himself and us. Six outfits gone. Sanity gone. Any chance of sleep gone. Which really made us appreciate the air hostess's razor sharp observation, as I was trying to catch more sick from inside the sling and get off the bloody plane, "I think MAYBE bambino's not feeling very well." No shit. Anyway, we made it. It's over. We're now behind the UK instead of ahead, jet lagged in Chile, eating pizza and watching Paddington at 4am. Let the South American adventures begin.
