🔥 ABB WORKOUT 🔥⠀
Ended up doing this 5 times because I couldn’t workout how to press play without having my face shoved into the camera 😂 (as you can see I gave up in the end). Feel free to also repeat as many times as you like, or like any sane person maybe just the once!⠀
Grab yourself a magic circle, a mat and get moving 🖤⠀

A recent conversation that we see popping up in the Pilates Industry is, “Do Pilates Instructors need to know anatomy to teach Pilates.” I personally voiced my opinion on this in a forum, but then deleted it concerned that I would rub people the wrong way. After my first day of participating in @madelineblackpilates Encompass Immersive Program at @studio26nyc , this only solidified my original beliefs even further. •
To make it simple, yes, I firmly believe it is any movement instructors’ responsibility to have, at the very least, a basic understanding of anatomy and how additional load affects the body in every way. We as movement educators are here to help facilitate more efficient and effective movement that will allow us to maintain/improve our overall health. How can we do this if we don’t understand how the body works? A mechanic can’t work on an engine without knowing what makes it run, a jazz musician can’t improvise without knowing the original melody.... Joe himself studied all types of movement which influenced his work, originally known as Contrology.
The argument that Pilates is just a form of exercise is quite frustrating to hear. Because, the choreography was thoughtfully curated for optimal health benefits, aligned with breath and mindfulness of the movement. This practice was created by someone who was constantly curious by different movement patterns and took many years of continued study and learning to create. •
Knowledge and education can only improve your teaching. Working with many different educators broadens your perspective and sharpens your eye. All of which are powerful tools to help you guide your client to accomplishing amazing things. 💕
