LOVE this! Why? Because no matter how old you are, and whether you’ve been to the gym 0 times or 1000 times, you will be uncomfortable at some point. Case in point: a couple weeks ago I found myself in this situation...strange/new gym (I was traveling), don’t know the layout, don’t know the people, don’t know the vibe, don’t know if I fit with the 25 yr old grunting powerlifters (no) or the 35 yr old elliptical herd (no) or the 60+ yr old social crew (no)...and all of a sudden, my head is spinning like I’m 13-yrs old and at my first middle school dance. The old me spins right around and walks directly back to the hotel with my head down so no one may look at me. The new, “seek the uncomfortable me” slinks in, walks around, takes a lay of the land, rationalizes in my head why I should leave, smiles at some people, says “Hi” a couple times, rationalizes leaving some more, and then just does my planned workout.
