* Nampan Indische Empire Stijl *

- Inchi Kabin, Nyonya style deep fried chicken
A lovely dinner at Candlenut with old friends from afar.
The food had some hits and misses (the buah keluak beef short rib was VERY GOOD), but frankly for a Michelin Starred establishment, Candlenut dropped the ball on relatively simple things.
E.g. fish crackers that weren’t fresh and crispy, Kueh Pie Ti cups that had gone soft from being left out too long... The table wines were well chosen and a good match for the food though. Props to the sommelier!
This is not a museum. It’s the home of Chris Ong, a hotelier with the most exquisite taste. Proud of his Peranakan heritage, his boutique hotels, especially Seven Terraces, feature beautiful antique pieces of his Baba and Nonya/Nyonya culture. A lovely Renaissance man, I am so privileged to be his friend. More to come. BTW, do you know what is Peranakan? #peranakan#peranakanstyle#nonyafood#peranakanculture
