Been hauling ass this last week! 6 of the last 8 days I’ve put in over 20 miles. I crossed into Virginia, got in and out of Damascus, saw some weird gnome stuff in the woods, climbed to the top of another mountain, walked through cow pastures and finally got out of the rain!!! I think tomorrow I get to see some wild horses 🐎:) the adventure continues!
Anybody want to see some #wildflowers before the summer heat arrives and dries us all out?? Our blog editor, @ygilon put together a list of best places to view wildflowers in California! 🌷🌸🌹🌻

Taking advantage of this unusually cool weather in May. We did have 100+ degree days all the way through December, so I guess it’s finally balancing out. Also, I finally have a little break from school and homework, so I’ll be taking as many hikes as I can until that all starts up again. The sunset in Griffith Park last night did not disappoint. I thought I’d be really slow and out of shape hiking, but I guess I do more walking at the Zoo than I thought. I’ve also been taking Iron supplements for 3 weeks now, and I can’t believe what a difference it makes. One other thing I tried was drinking less water (yes, less). I have a tendency to drink too much and deplete all the nutrients in my body, making me feel weak and tired. Here’s to more hikes with these longer days approaching! 🍻 See you all on the trails 😎💪
with a heart made full of fright
your eyes follow like tracers in the night,
and the tightrope
you wander everytime,
you have been weighed,
you have been found wanting

Throwback Thursday to that time that I got invited for a hike and it turned into river tracing, rock climbing, abseiling and hopping over a wall at the end of the trail - all in water shoes...
It's not just mountains here, summer is coming and time for some water fun I suppose! I am going to sound like a broken record but Taiwan cannot cease to amaze me with its wild beauty. You are never too far from finding the outdoors and for such a small country there is terribly a lot to explore.
A capture of a proud moment where I managed to shimmy up the side of this rock and not get splashed right off it by this waterfall.
I distinctly recall being sore for the next 2 days all over from that hike but what was more entertaining was the lead hiker who was carrying all the ropes and other gear in a plastic bag. Hopping and hiking with the lightest step ever.

Sure, Instagram is fun for browsing the awesome views outdoors. We get that it’s fun to take a photo from behind of you taking in that view as well. Here at Girls Who Hike though, our favorite images on Instagram are the ones that show your bright, beautiful, shining, strong FACES! We want to feel the emotion you evoke from those facial expressions. Whether it’s the sore feeling from finishing a day hike when you still have to drive home, or the elated Cloud 9 feeling while sitting at the top of the peak. Your face > the views, because your face tells the story of how you’re feeling in the moment.... not what’s behind or in front of you. Use the #GirlsWhoHike hashtag and/or tag us in your photos... SHOW us those moments where you’re sweaty, dirty, happy. Those crooked smiles and makeup-less faces. They bring us life and remind us why we are building this community... to bring those beautiful faces together out on the trails. ❤️

Walked through some gnarly clouds storm clouds yesterday. Put in 23.6 miles and managed not to get rained on until the last 4 miles. Then the sky opened up and I was soaked through almost immediately lol it rained off and on throughout the night which makes for some great sleep, I always sleep the sleep of the dead when it’s raining. But now it’s morning and still raining and I’m finding it hard to get out of my tent lol
