Our favorite eggs this year for adding color and diversity to the daily egg basket come from our Sage Eggers. We have bred them specifically for a lighter green color with speckling and each hen is unique in her egg color within the green spectrum. .
These eggs have a matted bloom over the top which gives them a nice feel in the hand. Have you ever felt differences in the surface of your eggs from different breeds? The eggs protective layer (the bloom) is responsible for that. It is a nitty gritty chicken nerd thing to be into the way an egg feels but after handling hundreds of eggs everyday it is something I cannot help but notice!

This hybrid we have created is strong, it can endure all sorts of weather and lays a whole lotta eggs that are a generous size. .
We have hatching eggs as well as chicks available if our Sage Eggers until September this year if you would like to add some to your flock 😊

This is the little bull calf born a couple days ago, his name is Einon, and he decided that climbing down into the ditch was a good idea...luckily @cheesy.rita.wells wore her Muck boots and climbed down and walked the calf out to find his mom, who was waiting for him!

🙌 I posted yesterday about eliminating waste. I absolutely believe chickens solve many issues that plague our culture. They can eat all your kitchen scraps- even egg shells! Backyard chickens will produce wonderful eggs for your family so you don’t need to buy commercially raised (almost always inhumanely raised and horrible for the environment).
