The #Hermitage , second largest #museum in the world, originally built as a home for Catherine the Great, and other monarchs, is one of the most captivating places I have visited thus far in my young life. To believe that people lived like this, to see how much #handwork went into creating these forms of art (from #ceiling#decor to detailed #wooden#furniture )...I wonder how many craftsmen are truly left in this world. Even “ornate” furniture these days is factory produced. I have tremendous respect for all the #craftsman , where-ever they are, who continue to appreciate the #beauty and devote tedious days, even months, of hard work to create #unique pieces of #art . Aside from all the #sculptures , #paintings , and #antiques there, the rooms they all sit and hang in is what took my breath away. I hope everyone finds an opportunity in their life to visit the #infamous Hermitage. In the 67,000 square foot space I saw so many #breathtaking things, but sharing with you just a very small piece of it with these photos. 😍
