Went out for my birthday & received the best present ever! Double strike on stripeys, dads one dropped after 20 mins of window-wiping all over the surface. Second one we got to the boat for the 3rd time & pulled the hooks. Although they both came free, it was the best birthday ever. @bonzelures @salty_crew
** WEDNESDAY SAILING ** There may have been white waves but with a heavily reefed sail Mr P had a great evening of racing.
You can just make him out in the distance having gone round the first marker.
It may have been cold but he had a great time. He did amazingly well 😍
- Things to do in Salcombe this Summer !
You cannot come to Salcombe and not visit the beach! When they are some of the best and there is a few to choose from around Salcombe to fit all your beaching needs!
Firstly the stretch of beaches along East Portlemouth can be reached by catching the East Portlemouth Ferry from the ferry steps in Salcombe - first ferry from Salcombe at 8am last ferry from Salcombe 17:30. The ferry runs 365days a year!
The furthest beach to the left looking from Salcombe is Ditch end this is a newly formed beach thanks to all the storms a few years ago
On from there up to the ferry steps is called Fisherman’s cove this is popular with Families because it is accessible from the road so you won’t get stranded on the high tide, there is also toilet facilities and the @thevenuscompany up on the road!
Further on from the ferry pier you will come across Smalls this gets very busy with people coming by boats glorious dry golden sand it’s the perfect place to spend all day this beach does get cut off from the tide, so make sure you check the tide times if you don’t fancy swimming back to the ferry! Mill bay the next beach is much larger when the tide is in it is accessible from the road, it has public toilets and in the summer there is often a ice cream/food van which pitches up! From here you can follow the cliffs towards @gararockdevon there are a few little coves on the way to explore!
On the Salcombe side we have North and South Sands, both accessible by car or foot! North sands has a large pay and display car park which is perfect for families who need lots of stuff at the beach, the tide comes right up so make sure you check the tides, this also means the beach is often very wet, we love North Sands for its connivence, the stream that runs right down the beach is perfect for playing in, we love exploring the rock pools and then lunch at the @thewinkingprawn 🦐. South Sands has less parking so we recommend coming via the south sands ferry, the beach is drier and has lots of shells 🐚 to discover! Here you can get lunch at @bosbeachcafe or the @southsandsboutiquehotel ! Both beaches have public toilets very near.
