We just put out 3 new strains on our $5 shelf (plus tax) starting with #greencrack#lemonsourberry & #wappa all are great for a sunny day chillin at the park, and with today being #heavyhandedfriday we will through in a little extra for you 😉 So come grab some before they’re gone!
I’ve been experimenting with making my own coconut oil based topicals lately. With the ridiculously low prices on ounces of flower these days in Oregon, it is a very inexpensive way to go, especially since I go through quite a bit of topical in a given week.
My first batch was made with Blue Dream. The second batch was OG#18 . I happen to like both of these strains, so I saved a few nugs from each for vaping, but when making a topical I don’t think the strain is that important, so just go with a good deal on nice clean flower (both of these were clean green certified) .
The basic process was to decarb the flower in the oven for 40 minutes at 230 degrees. With the first batch I ground the flower, but found that just made it more difficult to filter out of the end product. With the second batch I simply hand broke the nugs into smaller pieces.
After that, I added the decarbed flower to about 1.5 cups of melted raw organic coconut oil. I then simmered this as low as possible in a make shift double boiler. Finally, I strained through cheese cloth and let cool.
To test out the potency, I ate 1/8th of a teaspoon of the oil. It was a slow but strong body high that seemed roughly equivalent to what I would experience eating a 5mg edible. That’s obviously not very scientific, but it gives me an idea of where I’m at. That would work out to about 240mg/oz, which is comparable to most of the topicals on the market right now.
This process was fun and easy and resulted in 8 ounces of infused coconut oil per batch. My total cost for each batch was right around $60 including the cannabis and the coconut oil, which is quite the bargain.

A table of Chemdog 4D starting to fill in nicely. This particular pheno was popped by us and was never given out to a single soul. It is the perfect mix of Chemdog 4 and Chemdog D. As far as growth, the plant variegates like the D. The bud smells like the Chem 4 and lemon peels, but with strong rotten notes in the profile as well. The flavor is undeniably phenomenal. Hands down one of our favorite Chemdog crosses.
