This little boy is my why of getting fit and healthy at 43. He is my reason for everything, having a baby at almost 40 was not the easiest and it took me years to get back to my pre pregnancy. I am in better shape now than I was before I had John. Keep going and don’t give up
Jamaica through the OTAJ is now an associate member of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) . We look forward to future collaborations with WFOT especially as it relates to the development of an OT program in Jamaica. #occupationaltherapy#wfot#otaj#otajjamaica
Today little Chaz chose not to participate in #OT in which his therapist suggested not to take him anymore cause he’s not making progress which upset me. What do you fellow #strokesurvivors do to make OT a bit easier? Parents, please help. I would like my son to use his arm one day in his life. Kids his age don’t understand the quote “no pain no gain” . - Chaz’ Mommy :) #pediatricstrokesurvivor#occupationaltherapy#strokerecovery
Meet our OT of the day, Gagan! Gagan came to us from the University of Western Ontario in #Canada as a #newgrad . After deciding that she wanted a career in healthcare, Gagan was attracted to OT because of the diversity the job has to offer and the reward that comes with assisting patients. Helping someone with the most basic tasks is one of her favorite things about the job because it shows the importance of how such simple things go unnoticed until we are unable to do them on our own. She loves having the ability to work with a wide range of patients from #pediatrics to #geriatrics . Gagan moved to #NYC for the opportunity to work in a new city, to travel and to gain experience. She initially came for a one year contract but is currently here for over three years! Her process with #TESGTherapy was a very easy one – where TESG helped her determine where to live safely, presented multiple job options, how to navigate the subway and we made sure we were always available to answer all her calls and emails quickly. The bonus of Gagan moving here? She now lives in #JerseyCity with her serious boyfriend that she met when she moved here! Gagan & Jesse couldn’t be happier – living the dream right outside #Manhattan and taking the time to #traveltheworld together. Thanks for all that you do Gagan – we are so happy for you and this life you have created, truly living in the moment!
There is STRENGTH in vulnerability... 💪❤️ Something that God has been speaking to me about is the need to reach out and ask for help.
It's not a sign of weakness... or rather, a reminder that we are made STRONG in community and our STRENGTH comes from Christ 🙏
Taking Your Medications on Time
It is important to take your medications on time and to not miss a dose. Taking your meds late or missing a dose can reduce its effectiveness, thus making it harder for you to maintain your health. To ensure you do not forget, we will not only remind you but we can also administer your meds for you through our respectful and exceptional skilled nursing services. #occupationaltherapy#speechtherapy#homehealthaide
May is Better Hearing & Speech Month! 👂🏼🗣 Our therapists at TkidsT want to take an opportunity to raise awareness of communication disorders by sharing these signs of language disorders in children directly from the ASHA website.
The world doesn’t need another miniature version of me. 🙅🏼♀️
What it needs is a vast community of people who inherently know who they are and are proud to be uniquely themselves. 🙏🏻
I can’t think of a better gift to give this world 🌍
So far I see hints of a child with immense creativity, one with a string passion and huge heart, and one who lives life like a dream every day. What kinds of gifts do you see your kids giving to the world?
A little transformation Tuesday: feeding edition! NICU parents know the excitement of getting to participate in your baby's feeding by holding this little syringe with 5 ML of milk that goes to the baby's tummy via an NG or OG tube. Then the first bottle feed- watching monitors feverishly for "A's and B's (apnea and bradycardia episodes). Then the first home feeding with a "real bottle" (and puppy sister watching closely). THEN holding their own bottle. 😭getting sentimental over here!! PS- I've been wanting to say this but didn't know where to put it- here is as good as any... as medical professionals we get so desensitized to words like apnea and bradycardia. As a parent watching your tiny 2 lb baby turn gray and have a team rush to bag him, or turn blue when your giving him a bottle is terrifying. Just be sensitive and empathetic with parents as they recount their NICU experience during intakes or evals 😊 #otmom#occupationaltherapy#occupationaltherapist#nicu#bottle#twins#preemie#preemiestrong#nicustrong#preemiepower#transformationtuesday
SAÚDE DO CUIDADOR
"When coffee didn't cut it, I called my mom". Without these wonderful people, I would not have walked today, with high honors. Thank you to every human and dog who kept me sane throughout these past 5 years. One step closer to my future career as an occupational therapist. One degree to go. Cheers to the class of 2018! 👩🎓🎉
