MACRONUTRIENTS- this means looking at your fats, carbs and proteins. Yes it's important but don't even start looking into this much detail if you don't drink enough water, track your calories or have reduced inflammation in your gut and reduced stress levels. Everything has to work together.
To calculate your protein intake, just 2 x your b,W in kg for the total grams per day.
Over the next few weeks I’m going to do a post on all three macronutrients; protein, fats and carbohydrates. Let’s start with fats
🥑 There are 3 types of fat, saturated, unsaturated and trans fats
🥑 Unsaturated fats come in two forms: monounsaturated and polyunsaturated and tend to be liquid at room temperature like olive oils and fish oils. Polyunsaturated fats contain omega 3 and 6 which are essential to our body (we can’t make them) so we need to eat them!
🥑 Saturated fats tend to be solid at room temperature like coconut oil, butter and meat
🥑 Trans fats are artificially produced which means we should be avoiding these as much as possible. Things like sweets, fried food, margarines and biscuits
🥑 How much fat should we be eating? Guidelines suggest we should be eating no more the 35% of our total intake and 11% of this from saturated fats
🥑 Why do we need fat? Fat is used in our bodies for several reasons: absorption of minerals, omega 3 & 6 for brain power, energy and nerve health
So don’t deprive yourself of a little fat it’s good for you! Hope this has been helpful, any questions just ask. Happy Friday!
Great information and advice from my friend @Maxnottfit Is it time to level up your breakfast?
💬 DO YOU EAT BREAKFAST?
🍳 There's a huge difference between healthiness in terms of micronutrients and healthy in terms of something being weight-loss friendly...
🥓 Unfortunately, a classic go-to breakfast for many, as shown on the left, is neither one 😳
🥞 When opting for an overall "healthy" breakfast, I'd advise the following👇🏼:
🔑 Include some foods high in vitamins & minerals
🔑 Have a main source of protein
🔑 Try not to go overboard on carbs/fats, but whether or not you do, be sure to factor them into your macros for the day
🔑 Aim for the carbs you DO eat to be complex instead of simple (white bread over wheat, for example)
👉🏼 No need to comment if you don't eat breakfast 😂 That's fine. At the end of the day, if your goal is weight loss, be in a calorie deficit, if your goal is weight gain, be in a surplus, and either way, get the bulk of your calories from nutrient-dense sources 🍓✌🏼
10 Best #Night#Moisturizers of #2018
The common concept of a moisturizer is that it is used for moisturizing the #skin only. However, that is not just about it. A right moisturizer can transform the skin completely and even address serious skin conditions.
I had a nice pic of cauliflower so I had to give you a tip along with it. Insoluble fibre: acts as a bulking agent and helps food pass faster through the digestive system. This makes cauliflower an ideal pairing for denser proteins like steak. That will be one like please.
LOVE new stock arrivals 😍
ZMST has landed along with our first look at NOWAY in tubs .. how cute are they?! So, what is ZMST?
Our friends from ATP Science can answer that 💁🏻 ZMST is a combination of Zinc gluconate, Magnesium Citrate, Organic selenium from yeast Saccharomyces cervisiae, and Taurine. These nutrients are often deficient in the Western Diet and have been depleted from our soils and not found in adequate levels in our foods. The deficiency of these nutrients can lead to a host of disorders that include cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, sleep disorders, mental health problems and even musculoskeletal problems like osteoporosis and muscle aches and pains.
How does ZMST differ from ZMA?
ZMA contains Zinc, and Magnesium aspartate, which can lack in absorption if there is a selenium deficiency within your diet. ZMA can have benefits in regards to vasodilation and hormonal support, however, the problem is that magnesium aspartate is rarely deficient. This is where at ATP Science we have taken a different approach to these mineral deficiencies. The first point of difference is that ZMST contains Magnesium citrate which is 15% magnesium and 85% citrate. The citrate within ZMST can have beneficial affect on the body such as; flushing toxins, alkalising the body, binding/eliminating oxalate crystals, and also contributes to the citric/krebs cycle in cellular production.
Another crucial factor within ZMST is that Selenium is crucial for Zinc, and Magnesium to function properly within the cells. Selenium is a trace element crucial to human life and is beneficial for your immune functions, antioxidant defence, cardiovascular system, muscle and bone development, detoxification, and immunity. The last ingredient within ZMST is Taurine which is one of the most abundant free amino acids within humans. Taurine is beneficial for osmoregulation, is an anti-oxidant, can work as an anti-inflammatory, calcium modulation, cell membrane stabilisation, and even neuromodulation.
ZMST is an essential supplement for optimal health that most individuals will benefit from taking it daily.
