-Sunrise at Temple of the Sun-
The inside of our car was dripping with condensation when my alarm went off at 6:00 AM. Nautical twilight lightly poured through the windshield and onto our sleeping bags, letting me know it was time to go. As Derek still slept, curled in his warm cocoon, I squirmed out of the car with stiff legs into the quiet, sage-filled air of the desert. I collected my tripod from under the seat and slung my camera around my neck, quietly closed the car door, and for a moment stood still as civil twilight started to unravel across the scrubby lancscape. Free range cattle awoke and sounded in the distance as I started walking down the primitive road towards the sandstone giants of Capitol Reef National Park. .
