Hubby is working in the city the next three days, so being in the house alone is weird!
Means though music can be on full tilt and I can sing and dance my heart out.
New week... let’s be having you ✊🏻
Finally we have a little heat, the doors and windows are open and the first line of washing this year is about to go out 🙌🏻
I’m also glad to report to all those who ask about “the bus”, that the hedge is starting to bloom again and from downstairs you nearly can’t see it again... whoop!!
It’s another day for us in the garden and poor hubby now needs to do TEN runs to the dump with all our grass from the first cut 🌱
Hope you have a glorious saturday and get out into that sunshine and soak up the much needed Vit D ☀️
Hello Sunshine // we spent all day yesterday outside and it looks like today is going to be pretty beautiful too. Hubby started some work on our garden. It's going to be years before our landscaping is complete but we are chipping away at it gradually. I am so clueless when it comes to gardening, so I'm looking for some advice and inspo from you lovely lot. Can you recommend some pretty, easy to care for, wind resistant, shrubs, trees and plants?! It's my mission to add colour to the garden this year. I also don't want flower beds to look dead in winter so what can I mix together to keep it looking pretty year round?! Thank you in advance 🌳💐
Sun's out, pins out // I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that has to give those pins a little TLC after a long winter. As soon as the weather gets better I absolutely love ditching the jeans & tights, but first, a little pampering.
I feel so much more confident when my skin feels smooth and hydrated right from my head to my toes. It makes me giggle to think how clueless I was as a newbie teenager when I quickly grabbed my Dads razor and dry shaved my legs, cringe and ouch! I could have asked my Mum and I know she would have been super helpful but I was a little embarrassed and so I decided to take matters into my own hands. After my dry shave episode I experimented with hair removal creams and home wax strips before settling on quick and easy Venus Breeze razor blades which I still use to this day, because as we all know, mum's need speedy and convenient beauty regimes.
I'm experimenting once again, this time with the fabulous Braun Epilator to see if I can make this task even quicker this summer. I'm a long way off Susanna asking questions about hair removal, but if she chooses to, I want to be ready to give her advice on the various methods she can use. It can be so difficult choosing the right beauty tool so I'm getting all my research in well ahead of time and enjoying every minute!
I'm all for technology and streaming but there is just something about your kid physically picking out a DVD that makes me feel all kinds of ways! Hubby & I were being super nostalgic last night and reminiscing about how fun it was to go to the Video Store to pick out a movie to rent. Do you remember how exciting that was?! The good old days, eh?! Anyway, thats my trip down memory lane complete for today, as you were 🎬
Getting a bit addicted to my fabric staple gun, reunited after getting lost in the house move and nothing is safe 😬. Giving the Art Deco footstool hiding underneath a little makeover and picked up this fabric in @ikeauk at the weekend. Loosely placed over at the moment but what do you think? Also possibly the smallest candle holder ever but loved its simplicity and of course the little touch of #monochrome . It’s from @sostrenegrene for £2.99.
Who else didn’t sleep a wink last night with the wind??
I feel like heading to the nearest airport and getting a one way ticket to hawaii... anyone with me 🙋🏼♀️
Sharing my youngest sons bedroom this morning!
Like us his furniture came with us from our old house... but he is due an upgrade soon, as he is heading into 1st year in September and I feel he needs a slightly more grown up feel in here.
He’s football, funko pop and diary of the wimpy kid mad,
personally I wouldn’t have half this stuff in his room... but then it’s his room and his wee personality just shines in it!
Its Monday, the sun is shining and it’s not going to be a good day.... it’s going to be a good week, I can feel it in my bones ☀️
One thing i’m 100% sure of is that the boys ensuite does not look like this this morning!
Another room from the tour around our house... and it’s the boys shared ensuite (or jack n jill).
It’s a very dark room... but I love the darker wooden floor look with the grey subway tiles... and then the pop of colour! Should see them through till they are out the door!
Wish my luck in an hour when I’m opening this door 🤢
101 Dalmations is providing just enough distraction time for me to blitz the housework & grab a quick cuppa, praise God for Disney 🙌 •
This week has gone by so quickly, I can hardly believe it's Thursday already. How do people find enough time for everything they want to do in a week?! If you've figured out the secret I'd love to hear it! 🙄
Talking hallways today.
Loads of people find the layout of our house a bit strange, and it’s hard to ever show this through the medium of photos.
So i’ve taken a few from different angels to try and explain what shape the house is.
When you come in from the front door, you can either go down a few steps into the kitchen/living area, or go up a few steps into the boys bedrooms.
I love this quirky little feature, and it funny how three steps just makes such a difference.
I never really could understand our architects plans and it took the house to be built before I could make head or tail of it!!
From the boys hallway, we then have a full set of stairs up to our landing and bedroom.
I love the feeling that me and richard has own our space within the house... and sanctuary whenever you just need to close the door.
The landing area is big enough, that one day we will close it off and make into a main bathroom for the spare room... but that’s not going to happen for a few years yet as we don’t have plans to sell up just yet!
These might be boring photos... but it’s another part of our house that makes it that little bit more unique and bespoke to us.
As usual any questions about building your own hit me up!
So good so get into the boys bedrooms and give them the old “mum clean”.
I have to be honest, i’m really blessed with them keeping their rooms tidy.
A tidy room, a tidy mind!
I also tell them it shows mummy respect that they keep their space tidy... i might be their mum, but if they want a nice bedroom, they pick up their pants, make their bed and bring the dishes down!
Train them up well I say for their wife!!
When we moved in the boys where both to initially have a mezzanine level in their rooms, but a little late cost cutting had to happen, and they had to go!
Their rooms (only showing nathan’s today) have lovely high ceilings and it makes them feel so spacious!
I also love this room because it has 2 of my favorite features of the house... the DOORS!
I love my white barn style doors (but hubby does not agree), I think they just bring the whole country feel to our space. There are 2 doors here because one leads into the jacknjill that he shares with reuben, will share pictures later in the week of this!
Nathan’s room is still needing something else... and i’m thinking possibly a ladder style desk... although they don’t give much room and he’s a very messy when he studies!
Hope you like seeing a bit more of the house!
New year ... new project and this time it’s time to tackle our dressing room in a bid to move upstairs to our master bedroom... ensuite to be completed next!! We have an actual ‘dressing room’ off our bedroom and we opted for an open wardrobe system from IKEA. Not actually as cost-effective as one might think but it’s exactly what we want and will make sure we keep it tidy as no doors to hide behind 😂😂 this is 3/4 of ‘my side’ ... husband has the other wall!! #selfbuildni#nihomes#dressingroom#ikea#elvarli#interior123#interiordesign#homesofinstagram
Looking forward to climbing into here later.
We’ve had a day of pounding the streets of dublin and it was lovely just getting a change of scenery for a few hours.
Hope you’ve had a good Sunday xx
Up and at it today!
I’ve had a few visitors to our home over the past few weeks and all of them has said that the house is so different layout wise in real life than on insta.... and it’s true.
We have 4 different floor levels and lots of little quirks.
One of them is that we’ve no door between our bedroom and ensuite, but it’s so hard to capture because the light in the ensuite is so poor... but i’ve tried today!
I’m stepping back to basics over the next few weeks and going to show more pictures of different areas in my home, because it really is my little haven and it’s where I love spending time the most!
So if you’ve questions in new builds or anything home related... please ask and it will help get my motivation back 😘
Rainy Bank Holiday // one of us has a gym session in the bag this morning, the other two are still in their PJs, can you take a guess whose who? I'll give you a hint, my foxy slippers are still firmly on my feet 😉
Saturday Sunshine // I'm going to be controversial here but I think I love the winter/spring sun even more than summer sun! Yes it's blissful to feel that summer heat on bare legs and arms but isn't there something so lovely about wrapping up and heading out into crisp sunshine. Surely I'm not the only one?! •
Hubby is off for a kayak down the river while Susanna and I build Lego houses in between cooking breakfast and brewing coffee. It's a perfect Saturday morning here. Have a fab one friends ☕
Happy to report I’ve got all the panelling painted in ‘Exposition Gris’ (#craigandrose ) and really happy with it. I bribed myself with a generous bit of celebratory chocolate cake to finish it today ☺️. I still love ‘Lido Blue’ which I painted all the panelling and chimney breast in just 6 months ago 🙄but it was just a bit too much darkness for our little snug that doesn’t get much natural light #indecisive#paintaddict#ithinkilikeit 😉
Good Morning // how can it be Thursday already?! These weeks are flying by so quickly. •
Don't forget to enter the @littlecrafthutt competition before it closes tonight. Look for the post with Susanna and her hanging storage and get tagging. Good luck friends. 🐻

Everything is push push push for so long when you’re doing a self build, everything seems to have a deadline and once you’re in...I guess you kind of get comfy!! It’s now December and we finally picked our hall flooring and we LOVE it!!! 😍😍 we initially had considered a reclaimed parquet wooden floor but decided against it, for multiple reasons - the fact underfloor heating works so nicely with tiles, the ease of cleaning, and we thought the parquet would get too much traffic in the hallway for it to work (and last!). We are SO glad we waited and thought about this as I initially wanted the hall done much sooner. We set ourselves a deadline for this in the end and wanted it completed so we could put our real Christmas tree out here 🎄 #hallfloor#tiles#woodeffect#origamistyle#ilikethingstobedifferent#loveitorhateit#selfbuild#design#interiors#nihomes#buildingahouse#homeinspo#interior123#interiordesign
