This month, IKEA issued their fourth annual Art Event collection, and, for the first time, it was sculptural in nature. Enlisting mostly artists with backgrounds that included designer toys, the IKEA Art Event 2018 is comprised of eight glass figurines based on new or classic designs from the artists involved. We're thrilled to be examining each piece in its own feature article (including an interview with the artist who designed it), and beginning this daily series is an overview of the entire project, which you can read now on the CoART Magazine site (link in the @coartmag profile).⠀

I finally was able to get my two favorite glass sculptures from IKEA’s Art Event 2018. This one is Sutemos the Owl by artist Nathan Jurevicius. I love owls and her beautiful design and color is just perfect. According to Nathan her name means Nightfall. He said in an interview that it is the time of day when he is most creative and ideas flow rapidly. It is for me as well, so this makes little Sutemos very special to me. I have loved and collected Nathan’s art for years including Scarygirl. Be sure to read more about him and his new creations @nathanjurevicius @ikeatoday #owl#greenowl#art#glassart#nathanjurevicius#ikeaartevent2018#glasssculpture

Back when I was making toys as WeKillYou, I was asked by @nathanjurevicius to create a piece for his Scary Girl anniversary show. On the left is my ScaryTreeGuru, a tribute to 3 of his characters that I love! Today she was united with the main inspiration, BunnyGuru thanks to @magicponyland !! #nathanjurevicius#wekillyou#art#toy#resin

Day 90. Well, that’s it for my challenge. Learned a lot and it was fun! First I want to thank the most inspiring artist I’ve met—Nathan Jurevicius—it was a great idea and you are right Nathan—an artist needs to create every day. I used to love to draw and paint and haven’t done it in years—now I’m back to it. Also, I’m not going anywhere. I have an idea for a new self challenge—probably after the holidays. In the meantime, I’m going to post the current and new sculpts I’m working on. By the way, Happy National Cookie Day!
