I was an unhealthy level of bookworm for several years of my childhood and my extreme excitement at discovering this goldmine in mum's garage tonight is both sad and concerning 😱😍👏🙌 #nancydrew#babysittersclub#sweetvalley
I recently have acquired these beautiful unique bronze art deco style commedia del Arte masks. It was a style of improvising theatre that originated out of Venice Italy in the Renaissance, and took inspiration from the comedy of ancient Rome. Such as the pantomime, where we get "mime" from. The plays would be acted with these masks that represented a different character. The mask in the right seems to be Arlecchino, where we get the word Harlequin from. Which is a jester or clown. (And also the Batman villain Harley Quinn.) He is the servant of his abusive master Vecchi on the left, who represents a mean old man. The green colour of these masks reminds me of the Nancy Drew game The Phantom of Venice, as the villain also wore a green commedia del Arte mask.

In case you haven’t heard the news already, Sophia is cast as Nancy Drew in a movie adaptation of Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase! It’s being done by Warner Bros, and filming is expected to begin shortly.
BookStruck 4 was SOO much easier because I already intuitively knew just what books from my life made the absolute greatest impression on me, molded & shaped me into the person I am today. 📖 These are the Little House books, The Chronicles of Narnia, A Wrinkle in Time, and Nancy Drew books. My Grandma had EVERY single one of the #LittleHouseBooks and Laura Ingalls books. 😮 Since I spent pretty much every weekend at her house in my youth, of course I have read ALL of them more than once. I may not have been alive in those pioneer days, but the simple country survivalist lives like the Ingalls’ is the sort of life I try my best to emulate now in modern times, thanks to these books plus my Grandma’s influence. I first read the #ChroniclesOfNarnia in 4th grade, Mrs. Harrison’s class, and I was SO into it that it was all I could babble about in class for weeks...pretty sure I got on classmates’ nerves about that, haha. 😅 I first read #AWrinkleInTime even earlier than that...when I was only eight years old, and it has been my absolute favorite book ever since! 😁 I didn’t have my own copy, but I borrowed it continuously from my elementary school, and I guiltily admit that I ended up never returning it (oops, haha!) Sadly it got lost when my mom moved me out of my first apartment (because that’s where I was living when I was in my accident), but more recently I got my hands on the whole Time quintet, so now I can read all five! (Please don’t even try to get me to the see the movie though...I refuse to see it.) I never actually owned many #NancyDrew books of my very own either, I would usually borrow them from the library (which happens to be very conveniently close to the junior high I attended for 7th grade.) Every other Friday I would be hunting down more murder mysteries to devour...I loved them SO much, and Nancy’s impact has me on lookout for delicious cozy mysteries today! 🔎 #books#bookworm#BookStruck4
What’s better than some old fashioned #NancyDrew ? With nothing to do on this sleepy weekend, I figured I’d re-read some classics. I love how Nancy is such an empowering figure . She solves all these crimes without the help of any man 🤷♀️ #NancyDrew#feministicon#bookstagram#booksinaprilchallenge#youngadultbooks#readersofinstagram#booknerd#classic
