Sol LeWitt’s “Wall Drawings.
“Complex forms with color ink washes superimposed” is 2,448 square feet of visual sumptuousness covering three walls of Paula Cooper’s main exhibition space.
Bold, black lines about a half-foot wide divide the surface into rectangular compartments, or windows of different sizes, some squarish ones reaching from floor to ceiling, other, smaller boxes the size of conventional picture windows. The black lines create a structure like a single-story office building facade. Centered within each box is a multicolored, crystalline form made of many three- and four-sided, variously colored facets surrounded by a single-color field.”-TheNewYorkTimes text by Ken Johnson .
