Stumbled upon an Israeli wine tasting dinner last night at @rawmontraw, which ended up being a really unique dining experience. The winemakers themselves came in to talk about the wines. Among the interesting things we learned were- 1) Although Israel’s climate is great for growing whites, about 80% of the country consumes red, 2) grape vines planted closer together result in much lower yield and smaller grapes (the grapes fight for resources) but are highly concentrated in flavour and 3) Jessie does not do well past 5 wines (there were 11 total 😬). .
In Israel, #bourekas are the quick breakfast or lunch of choice. Bourekas are served at home dinners, at picnics, at wedding buffets and soccer matches – in fact, anywhere and anytime people need them! Bourekas can be stuffed with potatoes, cheese, mushrooms, or eggplant and are loved by the young, the old and the in-between🌞

Our dessert Ron's Malabi has a charming story behind it. Before working at MontRaw, our chef Ben used to be a cook at Biala, a well-known restaurant in Tel Aviv. The restaurant’s chef, Ron, served a dessert which was a specialty of that restaurant and was very popular with the guests. Its recipe was a secret and Ron never shared it with anyone. One day he told Ben that he would tell him the secret only when he becomes a chef of a very good restaurant. So now MontRaw not only has the best chef but also the secret recipe of a unique dessert - a rose water pudding with pistachios😍 Come try our famous Ron's Malabi, it’s going to blow your taste buds away!
