Mark and I are in the process of building a vintage furniture side biz and there have been some really cool surprises along the way. Both of us have a deep appreciation for design, especially mid century design. Always have, always will. Heck we bought an itty bitty mid mod house because of its charm. Mark and I are both fly by the seat of our pants kind of people so it’s been interesting to watch our stars align simply from following what excites us and brings us joy. In this whole process we have become increasingly versed in design subtleties and designers. We research obsessively and have been graced by the knowledge of others more experienced than us. Well, when ambition, goal, chance, and knowledge meet in that happy place you may happen to stumble upon gold. Or gold to us at least. Today Mark walked into the thrift store by our house and spotted a first edition Adrian Pearsall Gondola Sofa. To most that is meaningless but if you know anything about the man it’s like finding a Picasso at Goodwill. This couch was buried underneath other couches and had been for years. The lesson here is that it’s not about pure chance but when chance meets ambition, goal, and knowledge you might have the eyes to see the value of what others cannot. /// Check out my other page @movovintage. In the dark corner of the room, he stared me down with those eyes, but I had to get my shot.
