Police relations with the black community could certainly be improved, but it would be nice if Shaun King and others used their soapbox at least once to talk about the thousands of black deaths each year from violence in urban, predominantly black, neighborhoods.

Finished it in 9:53 with my @bruteforcesandbags operator vest on. Trying to recover from my short vacation and prep for Murph on Monday.
I've really been enjoying training lately. Mainly because I don't have any pressure on myself to get ready for the open next year. My only goal is to enjoy training and stay ready for whatever life throws at me. The second part of that is why fitness is so important. Whether I want to go run two miles while on vacation, play a game of basketball with my friends in the pouring rain, snowboard all day, or chase my kids around for hours on end, my fitness keeps me ready for every situation. You should prepare for the life you want to have...not wish for it.
This is an Onion article, but it makes you think. The #bluelivesmatter and #standfortheflag people are also the most likely to consider attempting to violently overthrow the government if it does something they don’t like. I don’t get it. Choose a side.

Mob mentality scares the sh*t out of me because that's how lenchings and various other public beatings and stonings happen. Humans have the ability to be great. Unfortunately, with the right influence and the right push, they also have the ability to be extremely evil. It's an important truth to remember when assessing others, as well as ourselves, in any situation.
When we start debating to win and stop debating to learn, it escalates into a "push comes to shove" situation. People say really ignorant things out of anger with only the intent to hurt the person they're angry towards. It isn't necessarily because they honestly feel that way in their heart.
Some say the truth comes out in a person when they're uncomfortable. Whether that discomfort comes from anger, sadness, shame, victomhood, etc. I don't believe this at all. Discomfort breeds irrational behaviors out of desperation and self preservation. Remember, intimidation tactics and torture is used to force false confessions. I do, however, believe it's who we are during times of trouble that determine our strength and integrity. MLK Jr said it best.
Anger is a great motivational tool as it has the ability to put us into action from a position of complacency. It spikes our adrenaline and increases our resiliency. However, whether we like it or not, it isn't a problem solving tool. The voice of reason requires we exercise the knowledge of when to pump the breaks on our anger in order to use critical thinking once we're motivated to act. It's the responsibility of each and every person.
I don't believe a society needs to bleed every so often to bring balance. I believe those are the words of someone blinded by anger and desperation. Therefore, I cannot and will not let that notion be the representation in my mind of all that this person can be. If I do, then victory to the evil within and shame on me.
No one on this page is seemingly foolish enough to buy into this - But if you are - Don’t be afraid to call the police on someone because of their sex or skin color. I called the police last year on my (black & lesbian) neighbors last year after one stabbed the other, then attempted to break down my & another neighbors apartment doors. If you feel your safety is in jeopardy or someone else’s is, do not let some warped social justice logic dictate keeping yourself or someone else safe. Mark my words, they’ll take to publicly shaming and targeting people who call the police on any “POC” American in a justifiable situation. #socialjustice#mobmentality#police#policelivesmatter#blacklivesmatter
This happened today while I was at the coffee shop . According to a store employee, a few customers complained of his presence, so the business called the police to get rid of him. The police approach the man and tell him simply they they were worried about him. Truly caring concerned people would not use the police to demonstrate care. He was a customer quietly sitting at a table with his papers and coffee prior to the police arriving. I didn’t even notice he was there until I heard him respond to the police. Being homeless is not a crime. Being black is not a crime. Drinking coffee at the shop you purchased coffee from is not a crime. Not having privilege is not a crime. Being broke is not a crime. This made me so sad. After the police brought him outside they put him in handcuffs. Based on his responses it appears he has sadly experienced this before and knew what to say to advocate for himself the little way he could 😢 5.13.18__________________________________________ If Philz had a problem with him they should not have taken his money when he placed his order in first place. It was so wrong to treat him like a customer at first then to treat him like some criminal because other customers who think themselves to be more important than him didn’t like the way he looked. How upsetting it must be to spend what little money he had on a treat such as expensive Philz coffee then to be treated like he doesn’t deserve to enjoy what he paid for just like everyone else. #blacklivesmatter#privilegeisreal#blackisnotacrime#homelessisnotacrime#philz#philzsanfrancisco#sanfrancico#haveempathy#mobmentality#policing#discrimination#coffeeshop#privilege#systemicoppression#oppression#otherpersonshoes#everydayinequities
This day last year we lined out as Renegade (@wearerngdmob) for our first headline Northern Irish show. Tonight we don the bandanas again a year on to headline @electric_ballroom_drogheda

"Herd mentality and mob mentality, also lesser known as gang mentality, describes how people can be influenced by their peers to adopt certain behaviors on a largely emotional, rather than rational, basis." -Wikipedia
Mob mentality has always freaked me out. I try to stay conscientious of it when mingling with like-minded people.
He might be thinking, "no publicity is bad publicity"
THIS is BAD publicity
Never want to hear another song. Not gonna listen
The same reason I can't enjoy Home Alone 2 like I used to @vanlathan
When racism sucks but cheap publicity and ignoring 400 years of oppression is life #fuckery
Let's take it a step further. This conversation is so interesting. #KanyeWest has everyone saying that slavery was not a choice because there were more whites, they had guns, those born in slavery were normalized to it. ALL true and valid. And even though we like to say "we are not our ancestors" maybe it's time to admit we are just like our ancestors. Especially when the conversation is focused on mental #slavery instead of physical chains.
#VanLatham even said so. He said "us blacks in the real world live in fear for our lives everyday."
That doesn't sound like free men. That sounds like slaves. So did slavery actually end, or turn into something else?
The police lynch us.
Businesses kick us out.
White on the left and right marginalize us.
Our communities are gentrified as will.
Our kids can't get an equal education.
We march for our freedoms only to be scoffed at.
Are we free?
Are we mentally free when we subconsciously wonder if we can do this or do that?
What choice do we have in the matter?
Because if you're saying we have no power to change any of this then I'm not sure I'm ready to give up like this.
I NEED to believe I have a choice in this for my sanity as a black man.
If you're saying the slaves had no choice, but WE'RE free then we need to examine the choices we're presently making.
