News Reelz: @abcnetwork has renewed their critically acclaimed comedy Speechless, for a third season. The season three pickup is for a 22 episode order.
Speechless has aired 8:30 PM Wednesdays since its fall 2016 launch. The series on March 21 wrapped its sophomore season, which averaged a 1.4 adults 18-49 (Live+7). The comedy stars Minnie Driver and John Ross Bowie as the parents of JJ (Micah Fowler), who has cerebral palsy, and his siblings Dylan (Kyla Kennedy) and Ray (Mason Clark).
Speechless comes from 20th Century Fox TV, which ABC parent Disney is trying to acquire as part of a group of key 21st Century Fox assets, co-producing with ABC Studios. Rumor has it that this business development was a big reason why Speechless was renewed and with the year three pickup, it's pretty much a sure thing for future pickups to ensure that it gets a solid syndication deal.

Our very own Mia Ferjulian on set after filming with her Speechless on ABC cast! What a great role on a great show that celebrates diversity and casts people with cerebral palsy, autism, down’s syndrome, visually impaired, and hearing impaired! Fingers crossed for season 3!!!
“Actors with disabilities face typecasting and a lack of auditioning opportunities, but I don’t let [it] define me.” — @Speechless actor, Micah Fowler, in a recent interview with People Magazine. Micah has overcome HUGE challenges to get to where he is now. Jamie Pavlofsky (Springible Contributor with cerebral palsy and as an aspiring actress) also has something to tell casting directors: “Just because someone walks into your audition room and has a visible disability doesn’t mean that that person’s talents aren’t worth your time or consideration… Be open to something a little different... The person who comes in with a prosthetic limb might surprise you with his/her dancing abilities.” Check out our full interview with Jamie! Link in profile.

An American Sitcom about a family of 5, The DiMeo’s. Maya, the mother, who will go to whatever lengths to make sure her children are treated well, Jimmy, the father who is always there to support his wife and children but also has a carefree attitude, Dylan, their tomboy daughter who loves to harass one of her brothers, Ray, the brother who acts like the most sensible one and is always made fun of and finally the oldest son, JJ who has cerebral palsy which is a neurological condition that causes certain movement disorders and muscle weakness. The show is funny while at the same time brings to light the problems faced by anyone suffering from this condition and it also depicts how love, understanding and mainly support for one another can go a long way. @driverminnie @micahdfowler @johnrossbowie @masoncook @kylakenedy @cedricyarbrough @speechlessabc @abcnetwork
