This St. Emilion grand cru estate is quickly becoming my favorite chateau on the right bank
A blend of 60 Merlot and 40 CF for a difficult year
It has a distinct Chinese sweet sour stir fried nose with Asian sour plum sauce on sweet raspberries over tobacco and hints of green
A beautiful wine with a elegant finish.

A special visit to Chateau Margaux, elegance not just in the wines but in the hospitality, architecture and presentation.
The grandeur of the residential Chateau was even more resplendent when viewed in person, the 2017s were resting, 2016 bottling has begun with the third wine and spring heralds bud break.
2009 Pavillon Rogue. 67% Cab Sauv with a higher Merlot content than the Grand Vin. Gentle, restrained nose, fruit forward. Soft. Balanced. Sappy.
2004 Chateau Margaux Grand Vin. Not a big year and this was poised, reserved and elegant. Quite well integrated at this young age. Not as fruit forward and concentrated as the hot years. Believe the word used is “classic”, which feels apt sipping this beauty in the stunning wine library designed by Norman Foster!
