How I knew of this restaurant was pretty interesting too - Through a wholesome tweet (swipe). The Potato Mentaiko (4.8SGD) was packed with flavours thanks to the Mentaiko, with the starchiness of the potato complementing it fairly well.
The Scallop and Asparagus pasta (10.8 SGD) was worth the price, considering how scallops can cost up to 27SGD per box in a grocery store. My date and I easily counted 6, and all of them were plump and juicy.
I originally ordered the Ebi Fry Baked Rice (9.8SGD) but it was unfortunately sold out (drat), hence the owner recommended me Teriyaki Chicken Baked Rice (8.8SGD) instead. My guess is that they used a fine amount of cheddar and mozzarella to achieve a beautifully stringy cheese pull, and the curry sauce under the cheese covered the fluffy rice nicely without making it seem like a gruel. The teriyaki chicken was tender, moist, and plentiful.
In general, though I found the quality of the food above average despite not quite hitting the spot for me, the quantity made it very value for money. Furthermore, the service was impeccable (servers were punctual and responsible), and the owner was really affable (she actually gave every diner free snacks (pic included, we got to choose) and said goodbye to us warmly when we left). I actually left the cafe feeling pleased that the GST was well deserved. Would I recommend this place? Hecc yea. •

Stateland cafe at Bali lane! One of the best places I’ve eaten at in the past few months. Though famous for their dessert, their main menu of western and Asian fusion dishes were truly up to standard. Herbal duck confit risotto was throughly prepared, served in a western confit style but prepared with the most traditional braised duck style, getting the best of both worlds, 7.8/10! Mentaiko tiger prawn pasta was hands down the best for me. Disregarding the fresh prawns, the unique combination of mentaiko sauce pasta just blew my mind away and had me scraping the plate for the last remnants, 9.4/10! (yes you read that right). The dessert was soft serve ice cream (in a nice twirly shape) on their very own unique mochi donut, basically a donut with mochi filling or a donut shaped mochi with crispy skin. Soft serve ice cream was good but nothing to rave about. But when eaten together and mixing the hot mochi donut with cold soft serve and the meltinthemouth feel with the Super chewiness, we got ourselves a delicious dessert, 8.5/10! Overall, 8.5/10! If this place used entertainer app @entertainersg , 10/10! #sgfood#sgfoodie#fusion#mentaiko#pasta#risotto#statelandcafe#brotherbirdsg
