If only managing emotions were as easy as fencing off your private property! But you CAN train your mind to go toward emotions, which we tend not to do. And unfortunately what we resist persists. The secret? Meditation is the foundation for dealing with emotions skillfully. Science backs this up now 🌱
Once you have been meditating for a while your sense of well-being increases two fold but you can easily slip into not wanting to feel the so-called negative emotions and just stay in the calmness of meditation. Life and all its emotions is meditation. Meditation isn't just sitting for 20minutes. Some days just feel hard. Its easy to fall into a dullness. Its a little bit more difficult to step back and notice that dullness. See if you can notice how many emotions you have in just ONE day. If you do this regularly, you will begin to notice just how fickle emotions can be sometimes. Fickle, does not mean unimportant. Fickle, as in transient. Ever-moving just like the weather. If you wait long enough, a more peaceful, happier emotion may present.
What layers does your perception pile on top of reality? Sometimes wishful thinking can be more harmful than good. When the hope runs out, we can come into full acceptance of our sadness, confusion, frustration or whatever emotion it is, and finally, let go...
Old trees have an eerie wisdom to them. Their roots go so deep into the earth. After spending too much time in the city, we all need some grounding! Visualisation can actually have a really grounding effect when you imagine roots stemming from your feet right down into the earth while taking a few breaths. It might sound a bit weird, but for people with busy minds, visualisations can be really powerful and an easier way to slow down and get back into your body after a week of 'heady-ness'
So many distractions, so many reasons not to focus on the here and now. But really, the present is all we have. So why not learn to appreciate and love it?
Mindfulness meditation is my quickest shortcut to this feeling of peace, calm, and: "wow, maybe I really CAN do this".
Give yourself time to just focus on the present today. Be here, now.

Sometimes meditation feels stormy and highlights just how busy our mind really is 🌪 but the moment you notice the 'busy-ness' you become mindful and aware 🎆 You then have the choice to stay in it or to let go 👌
Meditating never used to be my favourite. I found it quite hard actually to do and then one day I felt like I needed to "come home" and I sat on the floor and just started to get into the zone and I felt better -- I also noticed that big things were opening up for me in my world and this is when I started a small daily practice to set my day right! I invest the first 30 min of my day to align with Spirit and call in all you desire through meditation and journaling -- I'll add a drop of Sandalwood Essential Oil to my third eye and down the back of my neck and I'm ON and connected, ready to download the guidance for the day!! 💜 Q: do you meditate??
We have to shut out the noise to get/stay in touch with what's important. It's those times that we think we don't have enough time that we need quiet the most; even a short meditation makes a huge difference in the day! Less stress changes everything... 😌Close your eyes, take slow deep breath's, and observe your thoughts without judgment. ❤️ (no thoughts hasn't happened for me yet.) Hopefully, you can go into slow-motion for a few minutes and feel your body totally let go. ✨
Now… 😳Wake up! Hurry! 😜Do some push-ups and squats and bicep curls and rows! 💪🏼 TOTALLY kidding! Do the quiet time and try to move slowly after for a few minutes to take in what you just received. As I'm doing my fall clean up this past weekend, despite the cold weather, this little cosmo does not give up. She fought so hard to push her way through the cement, with little room to spare.
She was determined to not give up.
And on a cold fall day she stood out and made me smile. She was not the biggest flower of the year, but she gave me great joy today to see there was still beauty out there in the garden area. 🌺😇 #graditude#fallflowers
Dare to let yourself just get lost in the moment.
Whether it be sitting still with your thoughts or enjoying a great conversation with a friend, take time today to just be.
Turn your phone off and unplugged and just be there.
Pay respect to the person you are with, even if you are alone. Be there!!! Don't steel from the moment by being in somewhere else in your mind.
Get lost in that moment. Be present and get lost in it like time doesn't matter.

QUESTION: Do You Meditate?? If you don't, why not? Have you ever?? Do you think it might help various aspects of your life?? Joel Brown mentioned a while back that of all the high performers he's interviewed over the years - and he's interviewed A LOT - the number one habit they all have in common is a meditation practice of some sort. I've read this various times as well.
I used to be BIG into meditation and then I stopped completely & became a bit cynical towards it. Lately stress has brought me back to the mat. Nothin like quitting your day job, selling most of your furniture, and moving into a tipi in the country with limited cell service & no backup job so you can work on your business ..... to drive a girl to start meditating again!! It's really been helping me create space from my self-doubt, helpin me hear my own true voice under the noise, deal with anxiety & sleep deprivation, studying, and finding confidence in my own seemingly crazy new direction.
Couldn't recommend meditation more!! Especially if you want real expansion. That shit is scary!
This morning I had the honour of meeting this extraordinary architect and meditation devotee Vo Trong Nghia. For the media preview I led a guided meditation to awaken the senses. Nghia then shared his story as we marvelled at his intricate and beautiful bamboo pavilion #greenladder @shermanscaf
His vision is to captivate people to connect back to nature; through his eco-friendly and functional designs, that seem subsumed by nature.
What's so impressive about Nghia's expanding success, creativity and radiating enthusiasm is he attributes it all to meditation. He commits his staff and himself to twice daily 1hr meditation sessions, yoga and at least one 10 day silent Vipassana retreat a year. If you want to be promoted you need to commit to longer and more silent retreats! He is currently building a meditation space in Hanoi. I'm beyond inspired by his leadership and meaningful impact 🌟
