Happy Earth Day Earthlings !!! 🌏🌍🌎
I try not to get preachy about eating vegan because I believe absolutely each to their own; but seeing as it’s earth day I figured it gave me the perfect excuse to share with you the positive impact that just 1 individual can have on the environment from eating a plant based diet for just 30 days:
- avoid death of 33 animals 🐷🐮🐔
- save almost 125000 L of water for animal food production 💧
- help avoid the destruction of 900 square feet of forest 🌳 - reduce the creation of 600 pounds of carbon dioxide gas ⛽️ - save feeding over 544 Kg of grain for animals that could be used to feed starving communities 👨👩👧👦👨👩👧👩👩👧👨👨👦👦
Don’t even start me on the health benefits 🙊
Even just starting at 1 day per week, you can slow the destruction of our beautiful Mother Earth 🌏💚💙
One of the school mum's from my sons old school here on the Island has only gone and written her own vegan cookbook 😍 and it's bloody good!! Shit loads of info including nutritional charts and eveything. They've made it into the Observer monthly food bit today and her fella has a building company @custom.design.build.live who have successfully set themselves apart in priding themselves on being a vegan, eco conscious company using environmentally friendly materials, recycled where possible, as well as incorporating holistic concepts into the design process 👌 My friends husband who's vegan, and has had the piss taken for being so, always says "builders are all bacon and eggs 😒" not anymore it seems. Love it!!! @the.vegan.build #vegan#ukvegans#govegan#theveganbuild#earthday#vegansofig#vegansofinstagram#meatfree#dairyfree#crueltyfreefood#recipebook#veganrecipes#vegancookbook#plantbased#plantbaseddiet
“Earth day is what we all have in common”
Let’s celebrate earth day every day by taking small or big steps towards a better future for our planet.
By choosing reusable grocery bags instead of plastic bags and using reusable water bottles your are contributing to a better planet.
We use 100% compostable packaging for our beverages and food and recycle to be part of this movement to make of the earth a better place to live.
Recycling is extremely important, however that doesn’t mean you can’t do more to help.
Animal agriculture is the biggest contributor to global warming. By making simple changes & swapping out say dairy milk for a plant based alternative you can make such a difference. The same goes for swapping meat for a meat substitute. You don’t have to give up your favourite foods, just swap them for a cruelty free & environmentally friendly alternative.
Meat & dairy adverts are constantly pushed onto us through tv, radio, internet, newspapers... It’s all about profit. These industries do not care about you, the animals or this planet.
If you are genuinely interested in cutting down your meat / dairy intake you’re more than welcome to message me & I’ll try my best to help you & to recommend products 🙂
Happy #earthday everyone! Friendly reminder going vegan is the number one way to reduce your carbon footprint! For this earth day i made cinnamon swirl pancakes! Just use your favorite pancake mix and swirl the filling in and top with cinnamon bun glaze
The filling is 1 cup brown sugar, 1 tbs cinnamon, 2 tbs vegan butter, and one egg replacement of choice! The glaze is 3/4 cup powdered sugar and 2-3 tbs almond milk
Another triumph of a recipe by @meerasodha who hasn’t steered us wrong yet. This was supposed to be jackfruit tacos but we couldn’t find it in the supermarket so subbed in @lindamccartney pulled ‘pork’ burgers instead. Plus our avocados weren’t ripe so we used some cheese instead BUT we made up for it by making fresh flour tortillas from scratch 😱 The combination was insanely delicious 🌮 Original recipe on the Guardian website (inc how to make this lush chipotle cashew crema and lime spiked charred corn 👌)
Super super protein packed bowl with crumbled tofu, pinto beans and quinoa 💪
Spinach, onion, peas and chives were all yellow stickered. There’s also some sweetcorn because I loooove sweetcorn
I can’t remember the rest of the herbs + spices I added oops but I don’t think you can go wrong, really 🤷♀️
The EPIC-Oxford study was a prospective cohort study that looked at the links between a variety of diseases and dietary patterns of over 33 000 people.
One of the things they found was that the vegans tended to have a higher fracture risk when compared to meat eaters and vegetarians, and this was found to be due to inadequate calcium intake. But when they adjusted for those that had an adequate calcium intake, the fracture risk was the same.
So make sure you’re getting in enough calcium. Some good plant based sources include almonds, sesame seeds, tahini, calcium-set tofu, calcium-fortified foods and leafy greens, especially kale 🌱
Salsa verde enchiladas. Oh my goodness. These were so good and meat free which makes things easier on me!! In one of my overly sized skillets I added about 2 cups of frozen hash-browns (Trader Joe’s) avocado oil, half a bag of frozen fire roasted peppers and onions (Trader Joe’s), bag of roasted frozen corn, can of chopped green chilies, taco seasoning and half a bottle of enchilada sauce. Let everything cook to a simmer. Then added the filling to tortillas, topped with salsa verde and baked on 350 for about 15 minutes. Topped with cheese when finished! Meatless marvel, spicy and so good.

As it’s #earthday I thought I’d remind everyone of the environmental consequences of animal agriculture. Raising animals for food causes 90% of rainforest deforestation, 45% of climate change, 50% of water use. Not to mention 75% of antibiotic resistance, and at least 50% of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and most cancers. Not to mention that animal agriculture also results in the deaths of 100 Billion animals every year. Raising animals for food isn’t just destroying animals, it’s destroying us and the only home we have. @nrdc_org @rainforestalliance @rainforestactionnetwork @greenpeace @climatereality @algore @sierraclub #vegan#veganism#bethechange#earthday#enviroment#meatfree#dairyfree#bekindtoallkinds
After giving up meat in 2016 and becoming a pescatarian (just fish) I’ve now decided to become vegan!!. I gave up dairy a while ago so the transition has been easier than I thought. I’m only just over a week in and still learning but i I’m realising you actually don’t need meat or fish to gain and reach where you want to be as long as you train hard and eat the right things💪🏾. To cut a long story short, I thought I would have lost lots of weight and not felt myself 😅 but I’m feeling better than I ever have 💪🏾👌🏾 #Vegan#Diet#Gym#TrainHard#CleanEating#Shredding#Gains#Dairyfree#Meatfree#Healthy#Lifestyle
