Rising up from the underground
Suffocated by the pounding of this dense city
I see no gap in the stream of bodies
The air thick, dirty, loud and heavy surrounds us on the tube.
I feel that familiar sensation rising up - my chest feels tight and thick
Rasping, wheezing sound in my throat, it’s closing in
My ears ring with a deafening tone
Gasping for the dirty air
Shouldered in to the corner by the door
I imagine I’m surrounded by an egg made of steel and light
“Stay with it” my mind chimes in
Encouraging my stifled breath
Just a few more steps until I reach the ground.
I’m greeted by the sunlight, and the trees. And space.
I realise “I can breathe”
And my mind gradually releases its grip on my breath
I remain conscious of my breath. Maybe I’m over thinking it, it feels challenging still.
An hour later, after yoga, I feel free. Light, yet grounded; expansive.
I tried to describe my experience of panic attacks that I’ve been experiencing for a while now. They come on unpredictably, normally when I am travelling on the tube. I can report back honestly that my yoga practice seems to help... regularly getting on my mat, but I also work with a practice of protection while I’m travelling : visualising I’m surrounded by a barrier, and remaining conscious of my breath. It helps.

🔥IMPROVING HIP MOBILITY🔥 Here’s a series of clips, which focus 🔎 on improving hip external rotation (ER) mobility ✔️. Using concepts from FRC system: lift-offs and end-range holds ✔️. FRC should not be missing in your training 💯. . 🎯First: lying supine and performing a hip ER lift off. Key is to maintain tension thru the "kinstretch" block throughout the lift off. Next, increasing the range of the lift off by increasing hip flexion (with support of opposite leg/box) and performing the same lift off, however, in a different range. . 🎯Next, changing position: Hip 90-90 position and performing same concept as above. Increasing the demands of the lift off by being more upright and using necessary props (e.g. Block) to irradiate/maintain tension. . 🎯Finishing with Hip ER end-range holds. Bringing myself into my limits of passive external rotation and HOLDING the position to improve active control of the range ✔️ . 🎯Get assessed by a medical professional to see if you'd benefit from this ‼️ —-⠀
