#throwbackthursday to before last years Liverpool rock and roll marathon 🏅
At this point I was completely unaware how badly injured my ankle was and how painful those 26.2 miles were going to be 😕 The one thing it taught me though is just how bloody stubborn and determined I can be at times I probably shouldn’t of been running it but I knew I’d drag my legs over that line one way or another and the thought of not finishing never even crossed my mind 🏃🏼♀️
Excited to be back for the half in a few weeks time 😍
#VLM2018 PART FOUR
Mile 20 I saw @chris_x_runs at the water station which was so nice to see another familiar face even for a brief second. I was loving the race but honestly felt quite overwhelmed. When we went through Blackfriars underpass the noise from the crowds went and I took it slow. I enjoyed the moment of quiet and just listening to the pounding of everyone’s feet. The crowds make London, but my ears were ringing! I think there was now just over 5km to go, I was so close. Quads hurting and now my shoulders and back too, I was out of nutrition but couldn’t face a gel so took some Lucozade from one of the paper cups, downed it and got on my way again. I couldn’t believe that I was still moving, sure I had some aches and pains but I started to think how much fun I had and how quick the race had gone and that I almost didn’t want it to be over. Don’t get me wrong, I was excited to see the finish line but I started to think about my running journey the last 18 months, how much it has changed me. The last 18 weeks of hard work, all building up to this one moment, today. I got very emotional again, and to stop myself from crying I started singing Sean Paul out loud 😂 It was the last song I’d heard that morning and I’m not to sure what came over me but there I was, running down embankment singing Sean Paul 💃🏼I realised I was at 25 miles and started to really search for my family. Why hadn’t I seen them yet? I just needed to see them, hear them. The race was almost over. I was also searching for the famous cheer squad of Instagram, but couldn’t see them either. Houses of Parliament appeared and I was on the home straight. 1km to go. Emotional again, my family HAVE to be somewhere surely. I was so upset they hadn’t seen me. My watch beeped at 26.2 miles at 4 hours 41 minutes but I still had more to go. I started sprinting and kept my fastest pace for the whole race on that last 500m. TBC
Throwback Thursday with a difference. You know my posts...long
#Restday for me but one of reflection. Casually scrolling through my Instagram I see that @scottstapp and creed released 'With arms wide open' 17 years ago today. A song about a man becoming a father and him not sure he can step up to the plate. 17 years ago this year I drove my car out of @boltonhospice turned on my radio as tears fell and heard this song as I'd just seen my hero take his last breath. A song of hope which I associate with grief but a title I also have tattooed on my back...love the song. I went 13 years descending into depression and stupidity and it's only recently I realise how much I was suffering
2015 I ran my first 26.2 in Liverpool for Bolton hospice in my grandads name and it's the best thing I did. I took something I deamed impossible both physically and mentally a few years before and I won. In 3 weeks I'll be back to lay some Liverpool demons to rest and again run in my grandads name. Proud 😊
Reminisce, look back, smile but remember time stands still for no one take your ideas and dreams and make them reality...no regrets.
#ThrowbackThursday to #LondonMarathon and meeting the beaut @becca_haydenx
I’ve been friends with Becca for years on here, she’s such a talented runner, and she’s struggled with a really lengthy injury too, so we have a lot in common.
So good to see her and run alongside her (for a very short while) in London, and watch her do brilliantly in such conditions. You can go back next year and absolutely smash it!
It was also awesome to briefly run with loads of girls who inspire me from here - @zenacphillips @projectmarathongirl @macs_on_the_run @polly.warrack @joannacmale @ros_ponder @marathon.major.amy and @agabbpt #GRLPWR
I’m still struggling with how London went for me, and how easily I gave up, but i’m looking forward to taking it easy for a few weeks and finding my feet again before my next training cycle for @chimarathon! 🤞🏼
#throwbackthursday ➡ Berlin Marathon 2017 🇩🇪
Reminding myself that I can love the marathon distance ⬆💕
This race just fell into place for me. Splits were fairly consistent, legs got into a good rhythm from the start and I think because of that I just loved the whole run 🇩🇪👌🏼 And what's not to love when there's currywurst and a stein so close to the finish line?! 🌭🍺
+ I managed to get some half decent race photos for the first time in my life...which with a running face like mine is also a bonus 👍🏼😂
A brilliant shot of IMR athlete Roger at this year’s Boston marathon, well done for a time of 3:24:42 in very challenging conditions! “I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. What an amazing event... my IMR training continues to help on these long events.. I am convinced this is why I always manage to finish strongly on these long events” #bostonmarathon#marathonrunner#therunningschool#improvemyrunning
I have had a really long day at work and right now I'm so grateful that I ran this morning so I don't need to squeeze that in as well tonight 😅 It's always a nice feeling after a morningrun, but I like my bed a bit too much in the mornings 😅 I might have to set up a morningrun challenge for myself in May (not every day, but a certain amount of morningruns throughout the month) 🏃🏼♀️ Does anyone want to join? 😃
Hey there gorgeous shoes 🙋🏽♀️😍 New lifting shoes to use instead of the long Sunday runs 🙌🏽 Guess what runners? Strength is the foundation of running. Think you can run without being at least a lil bit strong, well the say hi to injuries ✨imma still run but hello CrossFit 😁
I love road tripping with this beauty. Cool story: we put our relationship to the test after two years of dating. We drove from Alaska to Detroit to North Carolina to New York to Detroit to Alaska in less than two months. We were never apart from each other for more than a few minutes. We lived in our car, with our dog and stuff, for those two months. We broke down in DC for a weekend, and still had a blast. At the end of the trip, I proposed to her, because I never wanted to be without her again. Thankfully, we’re just going to Nashville for a quick marathon and some fun this time. I love being the passenger seat DJ for my best friend, even though I’m the better driver. It’s always fun to remember how much we loved each other then and how much our love- and family- has grown since. #passengerseatDJ#heavydoseofCollinRaye#LittleRock#Chingy#roadtrippin#SteveWariner#marathonrunner#marriage
That's right, “I Slay All Day!” 💪🏼 An easy 5 miles to work out the lactic acid in my legs. Fun fact about me: I may be a snob when it comes to my running pants ( @lululemon or bust!) but my favorite running shirts always come from @target just like this one. I mean, I’m going to sweat like crazy, so I’m not one to spend crazy 💸💰💵 on a shirt. Plus, that leaves more 💰💵 for races!! Happy Thursday everyone!!
Pre-hab? How many of us are guilty of waiting until an injury totally stops us from exercising to seek help? I was! I wish I had followed a strength conditioning routine for the last few years, as you never know maybe I could have avoided the labral tear. Fortunately, I have private medical insurance through work so was able to get physio fairly quickly and get started on some proper strength training. If you can’t do that have a look at what is out there and use instragram to get tips on what you can be doing to strengthen all the right muscles. I should have been doing this before the injury, as while I'll never know if I could have prevented the tear I'd have certainly made myself a stronger, more efficient and more resilient runner. 🏃🏼♀️💪🏼
This is called a banded side lying clam. Keep your ankles together and open knees slowly. If you want to progress raise your ankles up. You should feel this working your glutes.

A big night last night in the UK at my sisters birthday party and to also celebrate her retirement from the British police force after 30 years. An amazing journey including over coming breast cancer in 1999 and also a nasty motor bike accident when she was 18.....100 marathons later she is an amazing inspiration to many and she is my big sister... Resilience, dedication & commitment and her unwavering loyalty are off the charts....#sister#retirement#thebolneystage#bolney#england#siblings#party#celebration#marathonrunner#9lives
Four years ago today I ran my first full marathon 👏🏻☺️
What an experience it was! I had no clue what I was doing — I under trained, over ate, didn’t touch weights, but somehow I made it across the finish line in Nashville in 4:38. I felt like death, but I was hooked! 🏃🏼♀️
I ran the Music City @runrocknroll marathon again in 2015 — knocking my time down to 4:00. Then in 2016, I ran it in 3:56 🎼🎸
I’m bummed I’m not heading back to Nashville this weekend to run the race this year, but I know I’ll be back. This race holds a special place in my heart! 💛💚💙 #throwbackthursday#marathoner#nashville
