▪️It is highly nutritious too.
▪️High fiber content so supports weightloss.
▪️I had a client who taught me how to eat plain beans and since she was nursing, it helped with her breastmilk flow @chisombili ▪️Is there anything you can’t pair with beans? Rice, beans, spaghetti, fish, plantain, potato, bread, veggies . . Kai the list is endless. No specie of rice can stand where my beans sits😂😂😂

My friend @iqphysique96 hit it out of the park with this detailed post about Progressive Overload. He's definitely someone to follow if you're serious about your gains💪. .
SWIPE LEFT for 5 quick slides. Progressive overload means increasing demands on your body over time. As you train hard, your body adapts. After that adaptation, you are bigger/stronger, so you must reincorporate a greater stimulus to allow adaptation to occur again. If you keep lifting the same load for the same number of reps, you will eventually plateau. And if you are not able to do more work over time without forcing yourself closer to failure, you are not adapting (making gains).

So since being back from the City i’ve barely worked out - i’ve had a fairly constant headache and i’m pretty sure i sprained/strained my left foot somehow when we were there and it’s still painful now, so workouts have been tough! BUT - yesterday I finally did a proper weighted workout 👊👊 I didn’t feel able to do a full HSH workout so I just made up my own (swipe left!) ——-
I did 40 seconds of each move with 20 seconds rest as i’m just working my way back into it! You could do reps instead 😊

It will shrink up a bit by hitting my healthy weight, I make sure to stay hydrated to improve skin elasticity, and I do have age on my side.  It’s all a part of the process. This skin is a battle scar of a life now being lived to its fullest. It’s a reminder of how far I’ve come as well as a push to keep going. I’m not going for “hot” or even skinny. The top photos show a woman so completely in love with her partner, yet so completely ashamed of her own self. The bottom photos show the same woman, even more in love with him but now with an entirely different view of herself.

I am so thankful for our friend who captured these moments for us to cherish for years to come. These photos are also what kicked me into gear towards getting healthy, and looking and feeling better on our wedding day (12.28.2018) than our proposal day (11.5.2017). 5 months later, ~50lbs down, and I can finally say I'm feeling (almost) as happy with myself as I am with this boy. .

So since being back from the City i’ve barely worked out - i’ve had a fairly constant headache and i’m pretty sure i sprained/strained my left foot somehow when we were there and it’s still painful now, so workouts have been tough! BUT - yesterday I finally did a proper weighted workout 👊👊 I didn’t feel able to do a full HSH workout so I just made up my own (swipe left!) ——-
I did 40 seconds of each move with 20 seconds rest as i’m just working my way back into it! You could do reps instead 😊

So since being back from the City i’ve barely worked out - i’ve had a fairly constant headache and i’m pretty sure i sprained/strained my left foot somehow when we were there and it’s still painful now, so workouts have been tough! BUT - yesterday I finally did a proper weighted workout 👊👊 I didn’t feel able to do a full HSH workout so I just made up my own (swipe left!) ——-
I did 40 seconds of each move with 20 seconds rest as i’m just working my way back into it! You could do reps instead 😊

Stress is something we could all do with less of in our lives and I’m sure you all don’t need reminding that it’s not good for your health.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is partly why I’m doing this post but I’m also addressing an issue that many women have.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I get a lot of people writing to me telling me that they’re doing everything right and not losing any weight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A major reason for this is down to stress. We all know that stress isn’t good for our health, but it isn’t good for your fat loss efforts either. The issue is that stress can lead to water retention that ends up hiding the actual fat loss because your scale weight isn’t going down and you’re also bloated and feel heavy.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So despite losing fat, your scale weight doesn’t represent it because you’re retaining water, additionally, the water retention causes your body measurements to not go down. This ends up completely throwing you off your game.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s why No.1 on the list is to perform less cardio. Doing too much cardio whilst in a calorie deficit can be a stressor and that’s why when I coach my petite female clients the goal is to eat as much as possible and to do as little cardio as possible whilst losing fat at a good rate.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Thank you...but...you are missing the point.
I was beautiful but I didn’t FEEL beautiful. I felt disappointed and ashamed of myself.
Self esteem doesn’t really have anything to do with what you look like.
It’s how you treat your body and mind.
I feel beautiful now because I exercise, fuel my body with healthy food and I say daily affirmations and listen to personal development books. DAILY!

The biggest difference I see in my ladies in my challenge groups is their confidence. Releasing weight and inches isn’t what brings them confidence.
It’s what they DO DAILY.
It’s the mindset change. The health programs just give them the tools they need to actively love their bodies.
Self love isn’t accepting your body the way it is and being happy with it.
It takes action. Taking care of your body is loving it.
Do I sometimes look in the mirror and feel squishy? YES!
But I DO love my body. I don’t do the programs because I hate my body.
I want to help every woman love their body. It affects every aspect of our lives! It’s important! You are important!

This post may not be very popular. When I share a transformation I get a lot of comments about how I was always beautiful. Thank you...but...you are missing the point. I was beautiful but I didn’t FEEL beautiful. I felt disappointed and ashamed of myself. Self esteem doesn’t really have anything to do with what you look like. It’s how you treat your body and mind. I feel beautiful now because I exercise, fuel my body with healthy food and I say daily affirmations and listen to personal development books. DAILY! I was MORTIFIED when I saw this picture of myself last year.

I couldn't appreciate the simple beauty of walking in my backyard, holding my baby boys hand.

I could only fixate on how 'fat' I looked.

I nitpicked everything in this picture, from my arms to my legs, my 'back fat' and more. I quickly put this picture away, pushed it out of my mind and never thought about it again.

What I didn't realize then is that no one else cared about what I looked like. And if they did, I certainly didn't care about what they thought.

What I didn't realize then was that I will never hold the hand of my two year old baby boy again, because hes a big boy now. What I didn't realize then was the beauty of walking on the land that my child will grow up on, that his father, his grandfather, and his great-grandfather Ransom grew up on.

So what's the difference between the me a year ago and the me today? The fact that I spent this entire year on a self-loving, body positive journey, learning to love myself no matter what I looked like in the mirror or in a picture.

Here’s a couple of pics from similar perspectives. The before pic is from a pre VSG sleep study and the after pic is from a post plastics hospital visit for an ultrasound to check on some swelling.
Not the happiest of expressions in either pic but both are real and in-the-moment. You go through this process thinking that “if I just make it to _______ , everything will fall into place and be ok” when in actuality it’s very much a moving target.
I find myself going through this odd phase right now where I’m frustrated and pretty down on myself. A lot of second guessing with some regret thrown in for good measure. I may present in a way that seems like everything is (mostly) good, but the truth is that this last stretch has been in contention for the hardest part of my journey thus far. Recovery has been hard. Feeling isolated has been super difficult. A lot of unknowns and unexpecteds have come up and I just don’t feel like I’m in control of much. I’m desperately waiting for things to turn a corner which I’m hoping will come sooner than later, but for now, the expressions on these #f2ff pics seem to sum things up quite well.

Oh and my belt is on the last hole and it slides down so I think I'm going to have to make a new hole on it BECAUSE IT'S TOO BIG. I've never had this problem before.
