My new goal is to not worry about the number on the scales. I am putting the scales away and not worrying about it. So many people become obsessed I guess you can say with the number. I was one of them. No more. I am choosing to get stronger, leaner and happier with myself. I have birthed 3 kids and I need to remember I am not like others where their body bounces back instantly. I have to work hard and I need to cut the crap out in my diet. Wholesome foods, healthy and nutritious is what I am going to aim for. I start and something happens so I go back to my old ways. Everyone does it. And it’s okay. As long as I get back on track #goodbyescales #igotthis #feelbetter #lookbetter #behealthy #bestrong #belean #fit #strong #leaner #muscle #losingfat #losingweight #ineedtodothis #healthy #fitness #goodchange #watchmedoit #slowlybutsurely #goodbyefat #hellomuscle

Something that I always get asked is whether to do cardio before or after a weights session.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Firstly, let me just clarify that cardio in this context is not jumping on a treadmill and running for 5-10 minutes to get your sweat on to warm-up.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The general rule for cardio if you're doing it within the same session as your strength training session, is to do it first or last depending on your priorities. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Simply ask yourself what goal is more important to YOU?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re training for a marathon for example then cardio or running will always be THE priority and therefore, it comes first. So when you do it, you’re able to perform at your best. Likewise, if your goal is to gain strength and muscle then lifting weights should come first.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some claim that you should do cardio after weights because for the first 20 minutes of training your body burns carbs and only after 20 minutes do you start burning fat. The reasoning is, by performing cardio after weights you’ll burn more fat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, you should know by now that to burn fat or lose fat, the most important requirement is that you consistently create a negative energy balance.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, provided you are in a negative energy balance you should perform cardio whenever the hell YOU like! Enjoyment and adherence always trump the day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When do you do cardio, before or after weights?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Chocolate salad on the go saves me again ! 🤗💕
....
Had a super busy day yesterday (you can see the tiredness in my eyes) with stack of work to get through, workmen in the house, crazy amount of cleaning, coaching, school pick ups, swimming clubs.... The list goes on!
....
On the plus side, the sun is shining today, I have my day planned out and it's nearly my birthday!!! 🎈🎉🎁🍰

💥I’m dieting but not Losing weight💥
.
By @trent_mccloskey 🙌
.
I feel those little pesky tracking errors above is the “grunt” work of really developing the habits that allow you to reach and maintain a lean and fit body for life 👍
.
Of course, it could be something else — but those are probably the most common when it comes down to:
.
“I’m dieting but not losing weight, what am I doing wrong?” 😖
.
The good news is: Once you identify this temporary sticking point, it’ll become more second nature and you’ll be steps closer to not having to track every detail in the future 😌🙏
.
The sauces, dressing on your salads, to oils you (or restaurants) use to cook with — they can quickly add up and do some damage. Especially if you aren’t accounting for them 🍝
.
My Fitness Pal for example, has hundreds, if not thousands of different calorie counts for the same food. So it wouldn’t hurt to get more info from a few different sources if you feel something is off ⚖️
.
As tedious as it may seem, a digital scale can become your best or second best friend. It’ll keep you honest too — what you may think is only 200 calories, could be upwards of 325
.
You can still catch me doing this with ice cream — that’s why I just eat the whole pint…
.
A week of sticking to your plan could be thrown out the window if you go crazy Friday night, Saturday night, and top it off with Sunday brunch 🍺
.
Not saying you can’t ever enjoy yourself. Find your balance and moderation that’s inline with your goals. Maybe that’s making smarter food/drink choices during those times, maybe it’s finding new activities, etc…

Tag 17/60

MACHINES VS. FREE WEIGHT .
This has been a topic that has been around forever. What’s better? Free weights or machines. The answer isn’t so black and white. Both have fantastic advantages. Let’s break this down
.
Machine advantages: You can hit any muscle group you like without having to worry about stabilization. That means less being concerned with your positioning and more focus on isolating whatever you are working on. Less stabilization always means more isolation. Take squats for example. Barbell squats take a lot of stabilization but the machine versions of it require less of it, which means more leg activation. Machine exercises have a very fast learning curve, it doesn’t require much body awareness or mobility, which is great for beginners
.
Free weights advantages: Amazing for building true strength. Fastest way to get stronger is through using free weight exercises, which will translate to being strong on machines. The level of core activation, especially with compound movements blows machines out of the water. There are many more variations that are available for free weight exercises compared to machines which means you can hit more angles to build a solid physique. The level of body awareness that it takes to activate muscles using free weights is something a machine cannot teach you. Free weight exercises especially compound movements will teach you better movement patterns considering you are practicing them correctly

Both have advantages. Why use one or the other. If your goal is to build a nice physique or to get stronger, you’re going to have to use both to some degree. The key is to program accordingly 👌

DRINK VOLDOENDE WATER @voluitgezond.nl
-
-
De ondergrens is 2,5 liter.
-
EXTRA TIP
-

Free weight exercises especially compound movements will teach you better movement patterns considering you are practicing them correctly
.
The way I look at it is, they compliment each other. Both have advantages. Why use one or the other. If your goal is to build a nice physique or to get stronger, you’re going to have to use both to some degree. The key is to program accordingly 👌

🔥MACHINES VS. FREE WEIGHTS🔥 Follow @wanted_the_fitness_club for original daily content . This has been a topic that has been around forever. What’s better? Free weights or machines. The answer isn’t so black and white. Both have fantastic advantages. Let’s break this down . Machine exercises have a very fast learning curve, it doesn’t require much body awareness or mobility, which is great for beginners . Free weight exercises especially compound movements will teach you better movement patterns considering you are practicing them correctly . The way I look at it is, they compliment each other. Having trouble hitting your diet every day for fat loss? 😖 ⠀
⠀
Intermittent fasting may make it easier for you 🤗
⠀
You enter a fasted state while you sleep at night and the idea with intermittent fasting is to push back breakfast or when you eat your first meal (lol get it? Break-fast 😂) ⠀
⠀
You don’t need to follow a strict eating and feeding window here either — you’ll still find this tool useful by merely pushing back food for about 4 to 6 hours with only black coffee and sparkling water ☕️
⠀
Here’s the catch: ZERO calories are to be consumed during your fasting period 🚫 It’s helpful to stay busy with work or immerse yourself in some activity to keep your mind off food.
⠀
What then happens; it’s later into the day, and you have more calories left in your diet to consume — setting the stage for larger, more enjoyable meals. ⠀
⠀
For example, when the afternoon sets in, you can break your fast with a protein bar and fruit, finish the work day/hit the gym, enjoy a delicious dinner, and even squeeze in a favorite dessert such as ice cream before winding down and heading to sleep 😋
⠀
If you decide to give it a try, give yourself a couple of weeks to see if you like it. If it’s not enjoyable or doesn’t work with your schedule, it’s not needed 😌
⠀
What’s needed is consistency 💯 and it’s going to be different for everyone. You need to find what works best for you.
⠀
Are you currently using intermittent fasting or have tried it in the past? 🤔
⠀

Had a gym date today. Honestly my weekdays are pretty boring unless y’all want to see me behind a computer all day. The gym and the kids after school activities are the most exciting parts of my day. I always jokingly tell my coworkers that when I leave there I’m going to my full time job...ie Mommy
🍪
Now that we have that established...Zumba was crazy good but I didn’t feel like recording and the little I did get I got carried away and it gave me a headache looking at it so I spared y’all. (Can we say longest run on sentence EVER)
🍪
I am super thankful that I have the energy after work to do this though. I remember when I’d come home from work and get straight in the bed because I’d be so drained. Now...man I be all in these streets...who gone check me?! 😜

The legend @evolvetrainingsystem has a brilliant graphic of shakes depending on your goals. Liquid calories are faster and easier t digest if you don’t have much time or forget a meal. A shake used to build muscle is going to have more calories and carbohydrates. A fat loss shake is going to have much less calories and still have adequate protein. I hope you don't compare yourself to every single fitness girl on the gram, because your body is unique and healthy looks different on everyone. Do you know where the 1200 calorie diet originated from? Read on and if you want to know and you want to know if you need to be on a 1200 calorie diet to lose weight.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The 1200 calorie diet comes from a book written 100 years ago. You read it right, 100 freakin years ago! People started blindly eating at 1200 calories because a woman called Lulu Hunt Peters wrote a book for women called, "Diet & Health: With Key to the Calories” giving a blanket recommendation of 1200 calories to all women whatever their size.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, I don’t have an issue with a 1200 calorie intake if it’s introduced at the right time or in the right situation. The issue I have is when every Tom Dick and Harry starts by restricting their calories to 1200 even though it’s completely unnecessary.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When women, regardless of their height, age, weight and activity level around the world, are starting their weight loss journey with 1200 calories it usually doesn’t end well.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It doesn’t end well because it’s just way too restrictive, which leads to extreme hunger and cravings. As well, you’ll end up losing more lean body mass because of the huge calorie deficit.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For the petite female, it may be necessary at the right time, but I can tell you that in my experience coaching petite females in Asia, who typically have lower levels of lean body mass than their Western counterparts, even they don’t need to eat at 1200 calories to start losing fat at a rate of 1lb/0.45kg per week.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Are you struggling to find your way and stay consistent? DM me if you’re interested in coaching. I’ve opened up 3 spots. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So I'm taking it easy today. I was in a funk earlier, that rolled over from yesterday. Got inside my head in the worse way, no damage done, but I got nip it now because if I start going down that road it will certainly be the end of all this. And typically its my thoughts, something I'm not satisfied with, or think isn't changed enough that start my descents. ⬇

💥Is it time for you to take a deload💥
💢
Repost By @ivicafridrih: "💥 DELOAD 101 💥
---
A deload is a short planned period of recovery. You workout a little less, and take your training slightly lighter. Basically, you reduce your workload to recover, both mentally and physically, and to get energy back. It is recommended to reduce the total training volume per workout by 40%. If you are a beginner, you shouldn’t worry about taking a deload week. 👇
-
It is important to note that it’s better to incorporate deload weeks into your workout routine in advance rather than when you already feel exhausted. Taking a deload week is going to prevent it and you won’t feel tired in the first place. 🏋
-
Why should you do it? First of all, this is going to help you break through plateau, and start getting stronger again. Moreover, taking a deload week is going to reduce the risk of an injury, and help with recovering of your joints and CNS. It also helps to regain motivation. Deload week is also a great time to practice your form, because the intensity will be lower on these days. 🚵
-
How often are you supposed to take a deload week? It is important to note that it depends on your experience level, age, type of training, and many other factors. You should find that out for yourself, but the rule of thumb is to take a deload week every 5th week. 👍

💥 DELOAD 101 💥

HIGH Calorie Protein Bars! My thoughts ⬇️🤦‍♂️
-
While most protein bars are typically around the 180-230 Calorie range, as of late, we have seen a few higher calorie protein bars pop-up on the market. Bars such as the Gatorade Bar, the SinFit Bar and most protein cookies 🍫
-
My thoughts? I would rather have a protein shake and a Mars Bar. A Mars Bars, Snicker, Bounty contain about 220-250kcal per bar… you add in 100kcal from a protein shake and bam! You have a cheaper, better tasting bar and a high quality protein source 😃
-
While these bars and cookies might taste good, they are never as good as the real thing and cost way more. 😒
-
Personally, I wouldn’t spend 300+ calories on a protein bar. If I want a protein bar, I’ll stick to One Bars or Quest Bars. If I want something with higher calories, I’ll have a candy bar with a protein shake on the side... I know my man @familyfooddude will agree with me 🙌

What in the heckinbob is a hip hinge and why is it so important? -
I figured I’d start off the form vids I promised by covering the hip hinge.
The hip hinge is soooo important to master if you want to correct your form on maaany other exercises.
It will improve your deadlifts, squats, any bent over rows, it will save your lower back, and target muscles more effectively.
-
Let’s get into it 👇🏼
👉🏼 Hip hinging is simply sitting back into the hips with minimal knee bend.
👉🏼 When learning this movement start off with no weight. I recommend looking at yourself from the side in a mirror to make sure you’re doing it right.
✅What you want to do is 👇🏼
1️⃣ Imagine there’s a rope around your hips and someone is slowly pulling it from behind you. Brace your core and keep a very slight bend in your knee and allow the hips to sit back, the same way you would if there was a chair behind you.
2️⃣ Stand in front of a wall. Hip hinge until you feel your bum touch the wall and return to the starting position.
❌ What you don’t want to do is 👇🏼
🚫 Hip hinge with an obvious bend in your knees, that’s basically a squat.
🚫 Bend over forward with no hip hinge or knee bend at all.
🚫 Have a hunched back and unengaged core.
-
Happy hip hinging! You now know one of, if not the most foundational movement to master when it comes to almost all exercise. So simple yet so tricky at first! Keep up the practice, remember some people may be able to hinge further than others due to hamstring flexibility. Just keep working on yours and you should be hip hinging like a pro in no time 🤗

I’ve been eating basically the same lunch for a couple weeks now. It’s super easy, quick for between classes or work, and delicioso. •
La Tortilla Factory low-carb whole wheat wrap, green leaf lettuce, Roma tomato 🍅, albacore tuna with a little mayo & brown mustard. I typically have been eating a few pieces of fruit on the side (today was mandarins & a braeburn apple 🍎) and some Skinny Pop. •
All of this for under 500 calories! •

Ladies, here's why strength training is good for you 💁
-
It helps build confidence. Getting stronger and finding out what you're capable of spills over into other areas of your life and boosts your self esteem 💃
-
Want to tone up? Strength training helps you build lean muscle and lose fat. That's what toning is. Don't worry, you won't get bulky 😉
-
Strength training is a great way to help relieve stress and helps clear your mind - vastly underrated for a healthier body 👏
-
Want stronger bones and a stronger body as you age? Strength training can help prevent both osteopenia and osteoporosis 🙏
-
The stronger you are the more likely you'll find every day tasks easier. Such as carrying groceries and opening jars 😀
-
Strength training really is beneficial and something you should consider. If you aren't sure where to start, comment below with the "🤔" emoji and I'll message you and help you out ❤

We're probably pretty late to the game BUT this makes THE BEST coffee ever. I used half: 80 calories, 1.5 fat, 2 carbs, .5 sugar, 15 grams of protein 😍🤤

📍Key Progress Indicators📍
#
1. How You Feel
#
When you start exercising and eating better, you’re going to start feeling better before you see physical differences. So I always try to get my clients to focus on this numero uno. You’ll notice more energy, you’ll sleep better, you’ll have more confidence. This is huge, and the most important sign you’re progressing in the beginning.
#
2. How Your Clothes Fit
#
Often times, you won’t notice any change on the scale, but your clothes start to fit better. Your shirts will just “sit” better on your shoulders. They’ll be looser around your midsection. Your pants will be looser and fit better around your hips. This, again, should be a focus because this is a clear sign of progress - regardless of what the scale says.
#
3. How You Look In the Mirror
#
This is another great way to gauge progress without using the scale. You may notice definition in your arms, or less body fat around your midsection. You’ll notice skin start to tighten up and lift around your hips. Pay attention before you hop in the shower. This, again, will give you a good idea of if you’re losing body fat - even if your weight hasn’t changed much or at all.
#
4. Bodyweight
#
Yes, scale weight is still important to a degree - especially for someone who has a significant amount of bodyweight or body fat to lose. Just don’t let it be your #1 determining factor for progress. My recommendation would be to weigh yourself once per week at the same day and time in the morning before eating and after a bowel movement. This is best for consistency. Yes - you will still occasionally see the scale stay the same or increase. But - if fat loss is your goal - look at the bigger picture and see how your weight has changed over the course of several months or even a year. Focus on points 1-3 and your body fat percentage if you’re measuring it.
#
Hope this helps you focus on the right way to gauge your progress in your weight loss journey. Do you focus too much on the scale? I know a lot of my clients do. Well, quit it! 😉

German Body Composition (GBC)training, unlike conventional aerobic workouts, will not compromise strength and muscle mass. In fact, it can make your muscles bigger and stronger, which is why I love this kind of workout. .

Today it's 💯 days of Keto!
Proud of myself.

Didn't even weight myself today, because I changed this habit of doing a weight-in too often. Last weight-in and lowest weight was a few days ago with 181 lbs ➡ - 32 lbs down
Goal 🏆: 169 lbs

I had just finished on the treadmill in the pic on the right so I am sweaty and gross, but that is not the point. I feel like I am failing a lot lately. I struggle with binge eating. I struggle with not being able to run as far on the treadmill as I feel like I should be able to. I struggle with not being able to lift as much weight as I would like. 😕

I often get caught up in what I am doing wrong and forget how many days I had to do things right to get this far. Last night I met my parents for a play that included my two youngest. My mom said she didn't recognize me when I walked in the building (despite the fact that she saw me about a week ago). I told her she may need glasses again, and she said, "no, I just sometimes forget that you are about half of what you used to be." It's not quite half, but I have lost over 40% of my body weight. I am going to try to remember to look at the big picture more often.
