Last summer I acquired this 3.5ft vintage, carved Lono. It immediately became one of the centerpiece attractions on our lanai but suffered the indignity of being anchored by a rope around its neck as I was reluctant to drill into his fragile, aged wood.
That all changed this weekend during an inspired arts and crafts session as I rigged a minimally invasive eye bolt restraint and even covered the flanking post with reeding for better contrast. The pair of curvy elements along the sides are date palm fronds which add a natural yet dramatic touch.
Some cocktails are definitely in order for a toast. Okole Maluna!
Don't judge a book by its cover, unless you are familiar with the letters HST. P.S. the book club meets tomorrow in front of City Hall for lunch from 11-1:30pm we will be discussing the parallels of artistic creativity in the 80's and today. @tetrainstagrahammaton will be guest speaking at 1:29pm sharp! Look for the dragonfly. BRING CASH! #gonzo#lono#americandream
