#AboutLastNight - this ham and cheese crêpe at La Crêperie de Hampstead was the perfect end to the first warm Friday evening this year. This local treasure has been serving up hot, fresh crêpes for as long as we can remember - the inevitable long queues are well worth it!
Who ate all the pasta? We ate all the pasta! @padella_pasta was an absolute revelation - fresh pasta hand-rolled and cooked right in front of you, in simple but unbelievably flavourful sauces. The queue was long, but moved quickly, and the food was definitely worth it! The perfect start to a lovely, sunny day in Borough Market 🍝
@saiddal1923 makes the best hot chocolate we’ve ever had, complete with a “rim” of melted Belgian milk, dark and white chocolate on the cup (a decadent version of the salt rim on a margarita glass, if you will). If that’s still not enough chocolate for you, you can also order a spoon made entirely of chocolate to stir it with!
Saturday lunch @clos_maggiore , a contemporary French restaurant in Covent Garden that has been voted the most romantic restaurant in London. It’s easy to see why - the restaurant is gorgeous, with a quaint Parisian interior belying the unassuming façade. The food is as pretty as the restaurant, and we had three lovely courses. We particularly enjoyed this white chocolate dulce de leche with raspberry sorbet, peanut brittle and caramelised peanuts!
Strolling through the little back streets of Southeast London to have a little taste of Tel Aviv.
Some of the plates arrive looking rather cluttered, but ohhhhh what a delicious, spice-laden, finger-licking, moreish memorable clutter it is. 🤤🤤🤤 °
1 - Hummus with braised lamb shoulder and pine nuts
(hummus on steriods, really! Sounds so simple but is a most flavourful fiesta in your mouth, I would have been happy to forego the rest of the tasting menu to sit in a corner with a tub of this and a basket of pita)
2 - Cauliflower in a spiced crumble on a bed of yoghurt
(roasted cauliflower. Nuff said)
3 - Harissa and maple salmon with sharon fruit, bitter lemon, brick noodles and will
4 - Short rib roast on ripped pasta, roasted vegetables and Pecorino
Wanted the full experience by pairing it with an Israeli wine, but wasn't convinced by the few I tried. Perhaps this now calls for a wine tour over there to find one I like!
Definitely feels like #Friyay @pattyandbun ! The Smokey Robinson (pictured) is easily one of the best burgers in London and the “thunder thighs” (in the background - confit chicken with jalapeño butter) have inspired us to wax poetic about their crispy skin and meat melting perfectly off the bone...
@busabaeathai is normally one of our favourite Thai restaurants in London, but our experience at the Westfield outlet a few days ago was a bit of a letdown unfortunately 😔 still, here’s a picture of Thai green curry to liven up a very gloomy Thursday!
Finally made it to @barbarylondon for lunch today, and it exceeded our (very high!) expectations. Flavourful, fuss-free food and friendly service - it was particularly nice to be able to interact with the chefs in the open kitchen. Pictured is the chicken “Abu Kalmash” - succulent char-grilled chicken on a bed of caramelised onions and labneh... lovely!
- V for Vegetarian -
Quality time with my brother over a burger at GBK.
Haven't eaten here in years (it was the place to be pre Nando's days). I was pleasantly surprised how decent it was.
March was vegetarian month for me (no fish, no eggs) and it was pretty easy. Not so difficult when there are classic veggie burgers like this on the menu. Mmm!
