Homebartenders, when you make cocktails, who do you serve 'em to?🍹 When I'm mixing, I obviously taste and enjoy all my creations myself, but most often I'm sharing them with my dad, one of my brothers or my wife as well.🥂 The last two being quite tough, but honest, judges.👩⚖️ I do appreciate their feedback a lot, as I can easily create drinks to my own liking and palate, but pleasing a broader audience isn't always as simple as it seems...🙃 Especially when the recipe is something you came up with yourself!
Today's cocktail is a mix of earthy and decadent, of sweet and sour.🥃 Using Copperhead's Black Batch (with elderberry and Black Ceylon Tea in its botanical line-up), muddled Rosemary, lime juice, my homemade Champagne Syrup🍾 and a dash of crème de mure to add some depth of flavor. This one got my dad's stamp of approval and got me ready for Summer in a single sip!☀️ Drinkstagram, have a great hump day!
- 60ml Gin (@mr.copperhead Black)
- 30ml lime juice
- 15ml Champagne Syrup (homemade)
- 10ml Crème de Mûre - Blackberries and Rosemary
Muddle some Rosemary and blackberries in the bottom of your glass, add crushed ice and all the other ingredients. Swizzle to combine, top again with crushed ice and garnish with more berries and rosemary.

Mezcal #OneBottleWeek Pt. 2 //Everyday this week I am posting a different cocktail recipe using #mezcal as the base spirit.
Mezcal is made using the heart of an agave plant callled the “piña” (which just so happens to look like a giant pineapple 🍍) that is roasted in underground pits. This is largely how mezcal gets it’s famous smoky character. As mentioned previously though, the possible flavor profiles are vast and can vary wildly from species to species, brand to brand or even simply producer to producer. Every aspect of harvesting, fermenting, distilling etc. and the decisions the mezcal producer makes throughout the process, will affect what you taste in your glass.
Even though all the recipes I’ll be sharing this week will feature mezcal made from agave espadín, it would be fun to try the same cocktail but with different types of mezcal made from that same species. You might be surprised of the variance in flavor!
Here’s a simple but delicious cocktail created by my friend @barfaith, a fellow lover of agave spirits. She had the recent realization that mezcal & passionfruit make an incredible pair– and I definitely agree! I used one of my favorite mezcals from @montelobos, who I’d like to thank for hooking me up with a bottle for this #OneBottleWeek !
Sol de Puebla
1 oz @montelobos mezcal
¾ oz @anchoreyes original
½ oz passionfruit syrup (I used @bgreynolds)
2 dashes @bittercube Blackstrap bitters
Stir with ice until chilled then strain over a large cube. Express the oils from a grapefruit over the top and garnish.
Recipe 📗: @barfaith
Thank you again @montelobos and the She-Wolf @lalobamezcalera for the bottle! 🐺🙌🏼

We are so excited to have the great @seankenyon13 in Lawrence! This martini riff includes Woody Creek vodka, black salt, sesame, and Dolin Dry vermouth. Come celebrate with us (and Sean) right now!
Taking it back this Tuesday, with our cocktail of the day. Our “Vieux Carré” has its roots in New Orleans and is named for New Orleans’ “French Quarter.” Our Rye Whiskey is @bulleit Whiskey and it’s spirit forward but well balanced.
Shout out to rainy days and my fellow homebodies. I've been inside most the day, making a mess. Oh, and Old Fashioneds of course, with local whiskey and syrup!
The recipe from @sipstrongwater's bottle is perfect!
Rainy Day Old Fashioned:
•1/4 oz of Old Fashioned Syrup
•2 oz of @bearcreekdistillery whiskey
•Orange peel garnish
It’s tequila season 🙌 Also, not the biggest vodka fan but I do enjoy Deep Eddy Ruby Red. The grapefruit flavor is so good!
• 1.5 oz. Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka
• 1 oz. Blanco Tequila
• 2 oz. Ginger Beer
• .75 oz. Lime Juice
• Squirt Soda to top
Shake all but ginger beer and soda with ice and double strain into an ice filled glass with a salted rim. Add ginger beer and top with Squirt and lightly stir. Garnish with a lime wedge.
With patio season finally upon us here’s my kind of “Patio Pounder”. Nice and easy, just 2 parts @wollersheimdistillery Vermouth and 1 part Salers. Bitter and grassy with just enough bright sweetness from the Bianco Vermouth. If you need me, I’ll be in the patio sippin’ on one of these. 😎
Lord knows we all need a pick-me-up because the weekend is nowhere in sight yet! The “Highlander” will do... plus more. 😅
• 2 oz Blended Scotch (Try Bank Note or Famous Grouse)
• 1/2 oz Cherry Heering
• Large Lemon Twist
From last night: A note: The Loganberry is a hybrid of a blackberry and raspberry that was first created by a happy accident in the Santa Cruz, California garden of Judge and Horticulturalist J. H. Logan in 1861, as the separate blackberry and raspberry plants grew near each and naturally the two plants intermingled. And thus the Loganberry was created from this natural hybridizing and was named in his honor. It's truly a best of both worlds fruit, that pairs the deep earthiness of the blackberry with the brightness of the raspberry. It can be used in pies, jams, fruit sauces for wild game, and of course can be used in eau de vies and liqueurs. This is my first time ever using one of Clear Creek's (of Oregonian National and Worldwide fame) excellent, sublimely crafted, award-winning products so I am very thankful to find it and try it in a deeply complex creation such as this immaculate tipple. Cheers. 🥂💯

Recipe on Delicious from scratch: Blood orange fizz cocktail
Glassware has such an impact on my drinking habits and has served well to broaden my horizons. I noticed this cool grappa glass while hanging with my dude @benjamin.dunlop at @portlandvariety and just had to drink something from it - so @matt.janzen (our rockstar behind the bar) mixed me up something special.
Here’s a drink that is quite light and guilt free…not to mention delicious!
Drink: ROSE GLASSES
1 oz Dry Vermouth (he used Guerra @guerracanada)
0.5 oz Rose liqueur (he used Briottet @briottetliqueur)
2 dashes Peychauds
1 dash orange bitters
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain into a grappa glass and add 6 drops of Malva flower (butterfly pea flower) extract. garnish with lemon twist.

What is your Favorite Chartreuse Cocktail? When I was in France I visited the Chartreuse Distillery and it was AMAZING. I also basically maxed out my credit card to get some special Chartreuse bottles so I am looking for some ideas and inspiration! .
This cocktail is one of my favorites with Chartreuse:
The Herbaceous Sour
1.5 ounces of Green Chartreuse
1 ounce lemon juice
1 ounce simple syrup
Several dashes of orange bitters 1 Egg White
Then reverse dry shake (shake hard once with ice then strain then shake hard without ice)
strain into coupe glass and enjoy!
