Mermaid Rescues Snorkeler and Lives to Tell the Tale
On Friday, Mermaid Vyana rescued a snorkeler (Linda from Seattle) at Ho’okena beach where she was having an asthma attack and her lungs filled with water. In her rainbow mermaid tail, she floated Linda on her back, calming her, and towed her into shore for about 15 minutes so Linda didn’t have to swim. Linda’s husband yelled for help when they got close enough, and a local man came out to greet them with a boogie board. Once Linda was supported by the boogie board, Mermaid Vyana swam as fast as she could to shore to find Linda’s inhaler and bring it to her. After about 20 minutes, Linda was breathing better, and Mermaid Vyana drove her to the hospital 20 minutes away. She stayed there in ICU for 2 days to recover. She’s very grateful for how all the locals came together to help her. Mahalo! She trained as a lifeguard when she was 16 and has rescued about 5 people in the last year while swimming in her tail. Mahalo!

Australia has uncountable beautiful beaches, once you are visiting one of them it’s impossible don’t take pictures. The beach signs are fun to be in the pictures, but not just take a picture, also take it serious. Australia is highly concerned about drawing specially during the summer when the number of people at the beach are massive. Unfortunately, a lot of the tourists don’t know the signs properly or don’t consider how important they are. The signs are there to keep everybody safe and enjoy swimming.
Here is a very important one: The yellow and red flags means you are safe once you are swimming in between them, in calm waters, watched by a lifeguard and away from surfboards. If you see a full red flag, be away from the water. It means you are not allowed to swim. While full yellow flags means that caution is required due to potentially hazards.
Keep yourself and your loved ones safe and enjoy swimming. #swimmingaustralia#visitaustralia#lifeguard#swimsafety#beachsign#swimbetweentheflags#keepsafe#royallife#learntoswim#swimmingtas
