💣Hello Major Hair Transformers! You are to be respected for the absolute creative, hard working badass wizards you are. That goes for every single colorist who consistently transforms serious corrective work into natural looking, flawlessly blended, soft and shiny hair. This beauty was my model for my Balayage Light It Up class on the 14th and wow was she a corrective! The before pics were what she received on a 2nd session balayage. Now we can clearly tell it wasn’t balayage. She said she was mostly natural with a little brightness from her 1st session. Since I’m not into bashing but definitely into making this a teachable moment, there are several things that went wrong...among them are:
🔻1. Sections were too small
🔻2. No gradience in zone 1
🔻3. No dimension
🔻4. Lightening went up too high
The overall effect created a solid dark 4+ month grow out instead of a low maintenance natural looking beigey blonde balayage she was hoping for. 📣 Now let’s talk about what her investment in time and money would be had she not been a model for my class. (SUPA LUCKY🙌🏼) I had her come in at 7am to get a head start because THICK HAIR😳. Class started at 10am. An entire head of babies later, talking/teaching, lunch for students, I’m still going at it....so is @hairbyb. We’re non stop. More talking/teaching, students start leaving and we’re approaching 6pm. I SEE THE LIGHT! Wrong lol! Ain’t no light. Every strand on her head had to have something on it. Now it’s 8:30pm and we’re styling. It’s dark out, Brittany and I are exhausted, @juliet_blushes hosted and says ✌🏼, our gorgeous model is ecstatic! Left the salon at 9:15pm.
Time- 14hrs 📣Behind the chair this process would still be extremely long and I’d have 2 assts. Because it’s extensive and very tedious she’d be my only client that day. Her charge would be $150 hourly. Rough guesstimate? $1050-$1500
📣Frequent question• How long would it take? I don’t know. It totally depends on how your hair reacts to each process throughout the session. Please don’t have plans on that day. The worse thing you can do is give your colorist a time frame and add pressure/stress to a delicate process. Continued in comments.
6 months ago I was overcome with frustration of things I’ve experienced in my
career. Things I’ve witnessed first hand and things I’ve observed in the industry. I realized I have a melting pot of experiences and could somehow use them for a greater good. I wrestled with a concept for four months and two months ago decided to hell with it, it’s now or never. Needless to say it’s been a lot less sleep and a lot more work, but before long I’ll be able to share my baby I’ve been working tirelessly on with you all. 🐝🍯
So glad I was able to attend again this year! Fashion Focus is always my FAVORITE hair show. I enjoy getting away from the salon for the weekend & continuing education. We never know it all but we sure can try, right??? If you keep learning, you keep growing! 🙌🏼 Proud to be #licensedtocreate ♥️
