In the Life and Adventures of Santa Claus, a young Claus sets out to see the world for the first time. He sees an immense amount of suffering — war, starvation, and profound inequality.
He is saddened most by the suffering of children, because he sees that what happens to them is never of their own choosing. He knows that they are blameless and never at fault for the things that happen to them.
He is moved to do something “to leave the world, in some way, better than he found it.” And he decides that there is no better way to heal the world than to make children happy.
Within our adult bodies are wounded children. What they have suffered was never their fault.
When we work towards comforting these children, we change the world. There is nothing so beautiful as a happy child, nothing so beautiful as a child who has been set free from guilt, fear, rejection, and deep sadness. These children act from a place of love, and their lives are more joyful.
What will you do today to leave your inner world, in some way, better than you found it?
"Korkuluk, ‘kalp değil beyin istemeliyim, çünkü aptal biri kalbi olsa bile onunla ne yapacağını bilemez.’
‘Ben kalp almalıyım,’ dedi Teneke Adam, ‘çünkü beyin sana mutluluk vermez oysa mutluluk dünyadaki en güzel şeydir."
Lyman Frank Baum
Carol S. Pearson

I was trying to summon the flavors of summer in this salad but I accidentally conjured the spirit of Wizard of Oz instead 😂. Just when I thought I couldn’t get any gayer. No wonder I thought gingham would beautifully offset my ruby and emerald salad, bisected by a yellow corn road. An early birthday tribute to L. Frank Baum (May 15) I guess. Also worth noting, the California strawberries are 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
It was thrilling and a little emotional to finally meet the great Fairuza Balk. @fairuza is a wonderful actor with a massive catalog of great films and shows. However her first film, Return to Oz, is a stunningly beautiful film. My grandmother read the Oz books to my mother, and as a kid my mom read them to me. Return to Oz is the most faithful film adaption of those books, with great effects by Jim Henson Studios, and perfect acting by Fairuza (she was only eleven!) and the rest of the cast. It’s a film that I bonded with my mom over and continue’s to be a favorite of ours. Thanks so much for coming Fairuza, it was a pleasure meeting you. ————————————————————
A días feos, zapatos bonitos. #elmagodeoz#lfrankbaum#zapatosbonitos#lolitablu#chicaslolitablu
